Remember to rename you're 4.0_PREVIEW folder to LIVE (or replace etc.) so you don't have to download everything again.

As with many big patches it seems looted gear may or may not have been lost.

A writeup for the next chunk of SaveSanton / Pyro quest chain. You can only pick one faction.

Ship skins for the factions.

I've not played SC in about a year, maybe even longer - when I last played there was a lot of desync in ground combat, is that still present?

It's better than what it was but there's still a lot of desync which is exacerbated by a lot of maps (contested zones etc.) being narrow spaces / corridors. If people sprint it's easy to knock into people and push them threw walls.

(Thursday) We are currently building a new Client/DGS Hotfix with further power allocation, entity management, server crash fixes and more. This will replace the current build on the HOTFIX channel for the client side when ready and roll out to LIVE Friday after review

They cancelled the Red Letter event and the Free Fly, they want to concentrate on just fixing the game and furthering their effort on improving playability this year.

This is a good thing, for the first time ever they have cancelled a marketing event to put everything into fixing the game, good!

Given how the things have been preforming this morning without the free fly event (infinite loading screen, hangers not working, lifts not appearing, falling thought trains, missions not working), no one would play the free fly and say "I'll invest in that"

It's a good decision and good step in fixing stability first.

But people cannot moan to cig if this year we see hardly any new feature coming to the pu. You can't have both. You can't all focus on stability and also add base building and engineering gameplay etc.

I seriously hope that the community don't start crying by end this year when we don't get many if any new features coming this year.

Because of this. 1.0 is a pipe dream and won't come out for another 5 or 6 years.

At this point we should have both. They stated months ago this was the year of stability, yet the first update of the year is so poor they pull a free fly even due to third hand embarrassment. Can we perhaps stop making excuses and accepting minimum viable product ?

If they put the effort into quality of patching as they do into sales pages on the websites, adverts etc we'd be in a far better place.

You can't have both. Wait post 1.0 and we will have both. We just about got most of the core tech in.

So here is the scenario. They make 4.0 work as stable as a fully released mmo for this year. What do you think is going to happen once they add engineer gameplay mechanics to all ships and poi?

Its going to become a mess again and they spend another year polishing it up and then once again, what will happen once they introduce base building and crafting? Rinse and repeat until it's 2040 and 1.0 features they set out over 10 years at that point, only half of it is in the pu.

I know people are dying to have a working game but it's not even a ******* full game!

IMO I rather cig move on from fixing 4.0 and add engineering gameplay, fix as much as they can then move to base building etc etc etc until all 1.0 features are in the game, then polish it out completely.

But that's just me. I want 1.0 out the door ASAP. Don't wanna wait until 2044 for it to be finishes

When ever there is a new major patch old bugs come back over and over again, this is not normal, its also a waste of development time and money chasing these bugs every few months.
The engine needs to be in a state where its stable enough to accept new features without crapping its self every time. Now that the last of the Jesus Techs are in its the time to do it.

We still need dynamic server meshing. If they polish now, how do you reckon dynamic server mesh will go?

Now unless they are refactoring stuff like missions to work with dynamic meshing, if not, same bugs will appear once dynamic meshing is in

Jonney we've been hearing that same excuse for 8+ years now. CIG stated they'd focus on stability, yet it gets worse.

We aren't talking about polishing, we're talking about getting the fundamentals right - which they continue to mess up with the same mistakes over and over.

Dynamic Server Meshing is not critical to the game, they have always said this, they have always said they will R&D it and try but if they achieve it its a bonus, not essential.
