Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

i hope all games are 720P @ 60fps minimum.

but i would prefer a game be 720P @ 60fps with better graphics than 1080P and same graphics wise as the current console.

Not all games need to be 60fps though. Some games do, but 1080p at 30fps is more than acceptable for many games and it'll mean they can do some impressive things with visuals as well as have the benefit of the higher resolution.

I will hazard a guess, but i think the PS4 will output in 4K but only as an upscaler and for 4K Blurays, 4K gaming is a long way off.

4K tv's are coming wether we have the content or not, and people will buy them just like when 1080P telly's first arrived and there was little to none.

Hopefully the game side of things will be 1080P at 60fps, and will make the most of our current telly's, i also hope they sort out the speed of the awful store, i hate using now and would much prefer to roll back, but it doesnt work.

No way a console released late this year is going to be able to render properly good looking next gen graphics at 4k native. I imagine it will be all mostly 1080P native with a few games perhaps being rendered in 4k. ( bit like most games rendered at 720p or less with a few at 1080p for the current consoles)

You guys have missed the point about 4k support, I think it will be able to play 4k movies, but we won't see 4k games.

The PS3 being a blu ray player really helped push the format into mainstream. I think PS4 could do the same with 4k movies.

Whether that be on some high capacity blu ray discs (BD-XL support ?) or streaming / download.

Think about it, the PS4 playing 4k movies makes sense

Which i what i said, and tbh it would be silly not to, the only difference i can tell from current Bluray and 4k is the speed of the drive.

I think you've missed the part where this was said several times already.

I dunno, considering they've managed to do some games in 3D with the PS3 when it wasn't even something anyone cared about before its launch, the potential is perhaps there later down the line. It's not going to sell any consoles on release day though, so in the grand scheme of things, it's not a very important feature for now.

All this 4k talk- can HDMI even carry that kind of resolution? I thought it was stuck at 1920x1080p in HDMI 1.4 and the next version is a year or two away?

EDIT: Scrap the above. Version 1.4 added support for 4k

4K Support
The HDMI 1.4 specification adds support for extremely high video resolutions that go far beyond today’s 1080p systems. 4K is shorthand for 4,000 lines wide by 2,000 lines high, or roughly four times the resolution of a 1080p display. The term actually covers two formats, both supported in the HDMI 1.4 specification:

3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels high
4096 pixels wide by 2160 pixels high

It can only do 4K at 24Hhz, which is ok for motion pictures but won't be much kop for games.

EDIT: I wonder if the PS4 will have DisplayPort?
