They showed off enough games? Again this event was more about the device and their vision for it trying to create the Playstation brand into something bigger than just a console/handheld. Their actual proper game announcements will be at E3 where you might see some new IPs and such. From the KZ footage and stuff it looks so early in development (not graphically) as everything was so super scripted and disjointed to make a presentable build. Give it another 3-4 months and I'm sure developers will have a lot more to show.

Also its only usually 15-20 games for a console launch right? So even then I would only expect 2-3 big Sony first party titles and then a few more indie/digital Sony games (Knack).

Semi accurate reckon Sony were late to the party production wise, so it wouldn't be a major shock and would mean huge stock constraints at launch.
Something MS are hoping to take advantage of perhaps
 
Well I'm pretty excited, and as long as it's not too close to the launch of a new Xbox, I'll be buying it at launch.

I didn't really properly get into either the PS2 or PS3, if the PS4 has enough interesting features this may be the first Sony console I enjoy since the original PlayStation.
 
I personally enjoyed the event, it's roughly what I expected. Some of the stuff they said at the start that ps4 can do with Gaikai and having a chip just for background tasks was nice.

it says a lot when watchdogs gets the biggest applaud of the night, people are fed up of sequels for games and want new refreshing IPs with some bite to them. Christ even Sony must know that as they have to subtitle everything instead of numbers now.

I mean your first 2 comments about dragons dogma and final fantasy. No wonder you think there's no good games on the horizon if you dismiss them with made up comments like those
 
Sorry but I missed the announcement and there is a lot to read through on here - are we any the wiser as to when it is likely to be released??

This is how im feeling to a tee..

Ultimately of the two big guns I only ever get one console,
I have my Wii U and am honestly having more fun than with games i've played on the 360 for a while.
It look like the Wii U is getting a nice jump in graphics with a few games coming out, Particulary with Need for Speed as the devs have commented on how theyve "Worked out how to use the power" and are you using the "same textures as the pc game".

Ultimately, This gen is the one where I am least interested by overall graphics power, We are at that stage now where its going to look pretty awesome anyway.
So ultimately what am I left with:

Controllers
The games
The Online
And the price

On those things alone, I HATE the look of the controller.
None of the games they showed remotely intereseted me as games which i actually would like to play save watchdogs which is multiformat anyway.
All they talked about online was Social this social that, I DO NOT want ANYTHING to do with PS4 on my facebook news feed ffs.
Price??? It looks like on rumoured specs alone it will cost more than the Xbox.

I think tis "reveal" was a awful decision, They really should have just waited for E3, There was clearly very little to show or say...
And they just trolled their fans bigtime.

id be more interested if they demo'd the windows version or a linux version, as im guessing the ps4 has a linux based operating system if so heres one for you all to think over. steam is on linux now so who knows what could happen as the ps4 is a pc after all.

made up really? I must be in a dream world where FF13-2 didnt get completely destroyed in sales compared to previous games and where the producer had to publicly speak about FF decline in the west.

but my point is generally is that, these companies (not just sony) can release these games with some new pretty graphics but if there the same games that people have grown tired of then its not really going to sell these machines in big quantities. there needs to be clear innovation in the industry all round but its never going to happen.

I think Valve are going to be a serious competitor to MS and Sony with this steam box they are going to bring out. PC base is huge, if they can get half the people to go for a steam box.....
