Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

It's unified memory.

I love how Sony put on a show and all the haters start crawling out of the woodwork saying "there's no way that was done on the console" etc etc

Yep, always the same comments.

If the graphics are good but not excellent:

'Lol crap graphics, so much for next gen'

If the graphics are excellent:

'lol cgi, fake!'

So whos gonna preorder one? Im gonna wait until i know what i get with the preorder and see what the difference between the standard ps4 and the premium. As long as they get a descent size hard drive unlike the early ps3 ill be getting one as soon as possible.

I don't see the point at the moment.

Most the comments in the thread are exaggerated one way or another.
Its not as bad as some say, and not as good as others.
Most the content last night was running on PC hardware - its the same for all early reveals regardless of the company - and no none of the games were "better then PC graphics" but they dont need to be, its a console not a PC.
Equally its not that much better then last gen graphically - similarly to how the PC hasn't progressed all that much since Crysis 1 - stable frame-rates and a constant proper 1080p with minor improvements to lighting and texture quality suit me fine :)

Dragon’s Dogma 2 - one for japan, no one in the west cares
FF - one for Japan , no one in the west cares. FF is stale, people lap it up for about a week then realise that japanese RPG's are **** and have been done better by the likes of bioware.
Infamous - probably one of sonys better IPs.
killzone - just no.
watchdog - coming to everything under the sun.
Quantic Demo - did an Nvidia 2007 with that face, if you own a pc you saw that exact same thing years ago.

it says a lot when watchdogs gets the biggest applaud of the night, people are fed up of sequels for games and want new refreshing IPs with some bite to them. Christ even Sony must know that as they have to subtitle everything instead of numbers now.

Ya know what would have got people excited? Naughtydog bringing a new IP to the table under the ps4 power - that will sell these consoles. Not some crappy shooters, dire RPG, hack/slash games that weve all played 3 times before.

Wow amazed no-one else called you on the **** you are spouting :p

It wasnt Dragons Dogma 2 it was a new IP called Deep Down.

Thought it looked pretty impressive myself - i wouldnt say no-one in the western world cares lol

FF - only people in japan care? lol again.... there would literally be a stampede for PS4 if the game launching with it was Final Fantasy VII updated to take advantage of the new specs.

Killzone series is pretty decent fps shooter on PS3 so dunno what gets your balls in a twist over that un lol

Quantic Dream

Then you want to **** off Quantic Dream...wtf lol you know they made Heavy Rain and are working on Beyond: 2 Souls for PS3

Can you provide the link for the claim that Quantic Dream showed the same video in 2007 then? Or you mean it was nvidia in 2007 ON A PC?
Heres a scoop for you - in case you didnt realise it....you're in consoles section... everyone and their mum already knows that PCs will always have the edge graphics wise.......dear god and you are using that old stale argument lol. Get a grip....

Kind of gutted they didn't show the box, release date or pricing! I was getting all hyped up but now I can just sit and wait for what Microsoft do. The only thing that would tempt me across is if Destiny was a next gen exclusive for the PS4, but I doubt it. None of the first party games are that good imo. Killzone has always been "Dammit someone make a sci-fi shooter so we have something to compete with Halo", Infamous was a less fun version of Prototype - Knack looked interesting but in a time-wasting platformer kid of way not a AAA launch title.

Unless the PS4 comes out substantially earlier than the next Xbox I think I'll be skipping it for a while. This is assuming Microsoft don't royally mess up the next Xbox anyway!

However if there's anymore than a month between the two, I know I'll end up grabbing one on the way home from work out of boredom/interest anyway!

as i said nearly two years ago october realse for ps4 for new bf game

xbox will be for november for new cod game

the specs are higher than most think. it has to be as they need to last minimum 5-8 years. some people are gunna be like wtf thats faster than my gaming pc :D

I'll be shocked to see the PS4 on the shelves in the UK in October.

Also the specs look fine, and what people need to remember is that games are written specifically for the hardware. Its amazing what can be done when you don't have to write for the plethora of hardware of the PC market.

With any luck, given the hardware the new consoles are using combined with 1080 games, we may even see an improvement in the quality of the ports.

I live in hope.

I cant wait to try the new controller as one of my biggest issues was the current one is too small. This new one looks quite a bit bigger so should be more comfortable to use.

Watched the whole thing lastnight, kinda wish i hadn't bothered was waiting for a BF4 demo :(

The Good

- Background downloads (updates etc)
- Ability to play games whilst downloading them
- Hardware specs seem great (from what we know)
- Live video streaming to friends

The Bad

- Layout of the UI seems to suck (still)
- Couldn't care about 90% of the social things
- The controller

Ok I agree on the first but are you joking on the second?? Infamous is far, far better than Prototype.

I found Infamous to be a bit 'middling' for my liking. I admit it was much more of a 'full' game than Prototype (story/universe etc. etc.) but that aspect wasn't so good that it kept my playing whereas Prototype was so lols you could just pick it up play half an hour then leave it. Infamous just felt a bit 'heavy' in that regard, it's story not involving enough to keep you glued and its gameplay not lulzy enough to provide a short burst of entertainment. Crackdown had it right imo.

It's good to see they've admitted defeat on the **** triggers and **** general pad design. The triggers look better and the handles look more...human sized. Shame about the sticks but I don't think they'll ever change that.

glad they finally announced it, MSoft are bound to come out v soon now with an xbox announcement

i've never had a playstation and i'm not sure this will persuade me either. can't wait to see it in the flesh

they need to call it something else too, PS4 bland

I was friends with a codemasters dev who now works in the states during the time of the PS2 launch, he said that dev's see 2mb in a console being the same as 3mb in a PC due to the added efficiencies of a common base and the far more direct methods of coding.

8 gigs of GDDR5 is pretty nuts, if this is sony's swan song then they are going out swinging.

would be funny if MS had convinced itself last night would be some vita or psn news and not the ps4 news. can just imagine the sheer panic in MS hq.

Completely forgot to mention - anyone else disappointed about the remote play stuff re: Vita?

Being able to play without hogging the TV is a major perk of the Wii U and a feature I love greatly.
It would have been so easy to implement at a hardware level, instead they want the Dev's to be responsible to software code it - which they will never do :/

Such a move would have saved the VITA's fortunes, imo.
