Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

Once we all agree that as soon as the PS4 is released it will be outdated we can all move on.

They showed us GFX that were already outdated.

If you want the best visual gaming experience then you do it on a PC...

Period.

What are you getting at?

Its a great platform to base your UI on. fast, feature rich and easy to code. Sony already use it on some of there tv's and most of there mobile phones.

The social network is also in place in android. no need to reinvent the wheel intergrating facebook/twitter plus can have the ability to have access to millions of games in the market place.

no harm in using android to run the ps4's OS

Meh, it'll be much of a muchness when compared on a decent TV and monitor (at the correct distances).

Even now the best looking 360/PS3 games look excellent, it might be difficult for people with expensive computers to admit, but there isn't a big difference (most of the time).

I haven't seen a PC game that looks as good as that Killzone demo.

Nah, I can't really see that happening. It's not quite as straightforward as you make it sound. :p

You really dont know what you are talking about, its inefficient, bloated and badly managed - I think other than old school windows I cant think of a worse OS to put on a console.

As Robbo says its clear you dont really know what a OS does - fantastic though that social networking is integrated, and that all those millions of games could use that 8Gb of GDDR5

EDIT: Got to ask but is it me or has OcUK gone downhill when it comes to intellect over the last few years, I swear Im talking to monkeys at times.

ps3ud0

wow. the aggression on some people on this forum is the reason why this place may be going downhill. So someone posts suggesting something and instead of being polite and come at your reasonings in a polite manner you instead go aggressive on me?

why? what did i do to make u upset? Also, android is not bloated. i think its u who dont know what u are talking about.

Android runs each process on its own seperate vm scaling its heap size memory based on available memory on the device/machine. if too many applications are running, it will kill the least important process/component to free up memory making the overall OS run snappy at all times

Wait are you considering that this is a unique feature to Android, that no other OS can do this? Really?

Honestly if you put more effort into your suggestion then Ill put more effort into debating it. LOL Android isnt bloated, pray tell why it isnt? Or perhaps advise me of the unique features over other OSes that make it uniquely placed to work in a console environment? Remember I wasnt the one originally justifying it on the basis 'its the most popular mobile OS'.

Calm down dear. Are you telling me that no other OS does this? Sounds like a super exciting feature, however you do realise that console OSes are customised for a reason right? Based on the hardware spec?

pc gamers why you no understand???????

consoles only need 25-50% of the power to make equivalent graphics of a pc, because they are much more optimised due to having one hardware configuration, whereas pc configurations can vary from 1 extreme to another, and games need to be coded to work on any configuration possible.

No one is saying that?

Just saying that the graphics on Killzone weren't exactly groundbreaking and they weren't better than anything we haven't already seen.

NOT to say that the PS4 won't produce groundbreaking graphics at some point.

Beat me to it.
Yeah but you spent less time making it polite compared to me :p

Im sorry but evangelising Android or any other OS is all well and good, but use a modicum of common sense why features that suit its native enviroment just might not translate, be required or might be detrimental on another completely different platform.

You said it was unefficient and bloated and i told u a feature that disregards your comment about it. where did i say that is a unique feature of the OS that no other OS does? please can u quote and highlight that bit.

And honestly, if you learn how to be more mature and less aggressive in your posts, This discussion would be a nice friendly discussion with no aggressiveness towards eachother and help making this place a better mature forum.

I may have asked a strange question but end of the day it is a public forum. why should someone who asks a strange question that most may not like, have to turn into an aggressive child towards that person? there is simply no need for it and its people like you are degrading this forum. not me with my questions about whether ps4 will use android:rolleyes:

im not the one that needs calming down its others being overly aggressive for no apparent reason. was i aggressive and rude when i simply asked if the OS of the ps4 was running on android? if i was i apologize. if i wasn't then i am very very calm unlike some other people here.

Exactly, Sony require a piece of software that is designed to run on a single hardware configuration for a very specific purpose. It needs to be streamlined and highly optimised, not some one shot kills all solution like Android which is designed to support and run well on literally hundreds of different configurations. It makes no sense whatsoever and considering Sony didn't even use Android on the Vita which is a handheld device just makes the idea that they would use it on a home console even more bizarre.

Did you completely ignore the part about the Vita? Android is a mobile OS and Sony excluded it from their own mobile gaming device so why would they put it on their home console? :p
