Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

A very interesting in-depth technical analysis of the Killzone video here.

A very interesting read. It seems that a lot of the advanced effects seen in the demo are short-cut cheats to create the illusion of sophisticated effects.

A very big blow is that Killzone is locked at 30fps, and that the dream of 1080p60 looks like it won't be a reality from launch.

I heard the PS4 will be released at £300, they won't make the same mistake they did with the high cost of the PS3.

who did you hear it from? unless it is someone who works very high up for sony, the info is most likely come from the meeja in order to sell more copies or gain more hits, therefore fabricated.

All i want is the console (duh!) 2 controllers and probably one game to start with. I expect that will cost me in the £400 margin.

the controller looks expensive, DS3 is usually around the £35 mark and still is, i have found it for cheaper but only ever happens on extremely rare occasions and you need to be quick. i expect the DS4 to be £45 realistically @ launch due to all the new tech inside it, i then expect the price to slowly drop to £35 after a year or so, because they will most likely sell out even at £45 and then be sold out for months. realistically take a year before any price drops on accessories and even then official accessories usually stay highly priced for the duration of the life of the console, which is proof shown by the DS3.

a controller will come with the console so better off just sticking with one if you can, until prices become cheaper or stump up the inflated launch prices.

games are also usually around the £45-50 mark @ launch which is the RRP. so if the console is £400 ish, expect to pay £475+ for a console, extra controller and a game, but usually @ launch even bundle discounts are rare, they usually push bundles onto people with next to no discount, and the console on it's own is not available to purchase. so you end up having to spend £550 for the console, 1 blu ray you do not want and 3 games of which 1 is half decent and you only get about £15-20 each for them on ebay.

so in the end you need to buy the bundle for £550 and the game you wanted for £45 and a controller for £45, meaning you end up paying £250 extra because of retailers greedy practices.

This is my order for the PS3 @ launch

genji was one of the worst things i have ever played, click was also a terrible movie. but the console was not available as a single unit, i was forced to buy a bundle.

i really hope you can buy the console on it's own this time round. i can get a brand new ps3 for £150 these days, huge price drop from the £525 i had to pay @ launch due to it not being available on its own.

doesn't matter if sony drop the price this year, retailers will bump it back up again, if you can buy the console on it's own buy it quick, because they will get snapped up first.

I still can't get over the 8gb of gddr5 ram! We all accepted that it would be 4gb (I thought it could easily have been 2gb which is still 4 times more than current gen) 8gb of ddr3 would have been acceptable but the fact that its gddr5 is amazing, Sony are not cutting corners on things that matter like ram and are building a games console that is designed to do just that, play games

It was detailed in quite a few articles I read online and purely speculation. With the current climate however releasing a console at £400+ would not be a good move especially if Microsoft will undoubtedly release their new console cheaper than that. I would be prepared to pay this but I don't think the general public would and considering the almost pc like components they would not justify such a high price point.

Yeah that was my highlight of the conference rather than any announced games. Lets not forget this was a very late addition so the games shown would have only been built with 4gb max in mind.

Shopto have pre-orders up with no deposit and anytime cancellation.

Yeah I seen that, I need to wait for a certain online retailer to offer this as I can get a nice discount! :D

Trading in my PS3 this week and getting £140 for it and another £80.00 for the games I have left. Saving is going well for the new console. Shame that the Vita now looks interesting! :p

now something no one's talked about yet, regions. is the ps4 region free for games if so i hope the yen carrys on dropping against the pound as il be importing one :D

8GB of DDR3 is roughly £40-£50, so just imagine how much 8GB of GDDR5 will cost?

See the point above, I reckon it will retail for £399 @ launch. But Retailers will force you into bundle options which are considerably more, just like they did with the PS3. The cost of the RAM being used is going to be over £100 most likely. Therefore I cannot see them selling it for £300, it would be too much of a loss, even at £399 they would be making a loss.

some games will be region locked i imagine, where if you buy a game from china, you may only be able to play people online from china.

but in theory if they have the same setup as ps3, you can buy a chinese ps3, but all your games from the UK and it will run like any other UK PS3, but you will need to buy a UK plug off ebay for a fiver.

do not think any detailed info will come out on this until someone tries it.

generally someone lets it slip at e3 or in a pr briefing before the launch, just hope its sooner than later so i can get one shipped over.

You have taken the retail price of DDR3 RAM and GDDR5 RAM is not available as such as it only comes on a graphics card so the comparison doesn't make sense. Plus they would would not be paying anywhere near £100 direct from the manufacturer per console, that would be nuts.
