Playstation 4 being announced February 20th?

If people want backwards compatibility why not just keep your PS3? Who knows what price sony would charge for games for streaming. Might be cheaper just going out and buying a 2nd hand copy!

I've never understood people who get worked up about it or have problems with either. They're both fine to use.

Indeed, I swap and change between consoles with zero complaints. Well with 2 complaints, dpads hurts my finger on 360 after a while playing fighting games and the dead spots on the PS3 can be annoying...

But actual use. I just pick it up and play, not exactly a feat in itself.

PlayStation 2 day today.

A bit better than the previous one - I lost count of how many times the word marketing was used - but still, meh. I've seen much better "History of PlayStation" videos before, which is staggering considering Sony should know more about it than anyone.

Both the dual shock and 360 pad are both great.

Anyone who wouldn't buy a console based on either of these pads is a fan boy plain and simple.

I have both but dont play the ps as i dont like the controller. That doesnt make me a fan boy its just i dont like it. I will be getting both consoles dont get me wrong but to be my main console it will have to be a lot better then the last.

This is not right.

Everyone's hands are different. Therefore two different controllers will feel different

Most people won't have a problem but you see far more people liking the xbox to be fair.
I'd love to get on with both

how are sony's financials? i thought they were nearly bust? good chance of this being there last console, unless they can turn around their poor product quality to price ratio in terms of their tv's and other products. looks like they do not put as much effort into them as they do consoles.

I find that the ps3 dual shock is a little too small for my sausage fingers and I tend to get cramp after an hour or so. I think that if the shoulders buttons were rotated inwards slightly to aid grip it would help the ergonomics.

I think even the biggest Sony fanboys can admit the 360 pad is favoured more, not just by console gamers.....

Until I got my 360 I was a Sony fanboy. I thought the PS pad was awesome but as soon as I used the 360 pad I realised it was a much better design.

But this isn't an official forum for one platform, so no, I don't see what you're getting at.

The forum is heavily 360 based, look at the FIFA and CoD threads for a start. While I have a preference I still find them both perfectly fine, I just hate seeing those cut and dry comments like one pad is quite clearly superior.

of course you get fan bois, but i do genuinely think the 360 pad is more ergonomic..taking out personal preference. i guess its to big a risk for sony to make to change the controller radically. which i can perfectly understand. you dont want to alienate your customer base

issues i personally have spelt out
thumb sticks are too far into the centre of the pad: i have to almost shift/twist my hands up towards the controller center to reach them
thumb sticks are convex: i find my thumbs arent that secure on them, clicking them down click is particularly awkward for me
triggers, again, sort of convex: i think most people would like improvement there

one odd thing i also find is that i almost fell i am holding two separate controllers..one in each hand..but they are joined. this is an odd one and probably just me and fairly hard to explain

Same with me really. Loved the PS controller, had a dualshock configured for the PC for years too. Then I then tried the 360 pad and it feels much better. Still don't mind the dualshock but the other is definitely more natural for my large hands.

Looking at the concept images for the new pad... really not into the touch interface thing. I mean, what can it possibly add to games other than being a different way of pressing a button? These things just get in the way to me.
