From my experience (and I order a lot of stuff at work) AMtrack suck. They scuked when I ordered stuff for myself as well.

Mind you, Derby is a black hole as far as couriers are concerened.

Just pick the cheapest and pass the savings on, Spie! :D

I dispatch packages with City link pretty much daily, from 50 quid till scanners to 8 grands worth of Epos hardware, and in the last 18 months (as far back as I can remember) I've only had three things not arrive on time, one was today because the customer forgot to open his store on time and the driver was bang on 10.30 am he got carded.

Also their customer support in Grantham (where I work) pick up within 20 seconds without fail even if its to tell you they are banged out and will call back.
if they fail to deliver they are pretty easy to deal with, had a couple of refunds & free deliveries, plus we have a regular area driver so you know what kind of time he will be picking up and dropping off which makes life a lot easier.

Amtrak I've only ever used through OcUK on next day, never had any major problems with them, although my last soundcard did look like it'd been kicked around for a while ;)

Nice touch btw Spie.

Gonna add another for city link. Made a trip to an amtrac depot to send something after enquiring on the phone how much it would be to send. They asked me the size and I told them (it wasnt THAT heavy or big) got there and they weighed it and the price miraculously doubled + a bit which you would think was WAY off the scale. Felt very ripped off and cheated.
City link i've had deliver all manner of bits from all different people/companies (mostly to work) and they never failed to deliver yet, not had to make one trip so a BIG vote for city link here.

My vote goes to Amtrack as Ive never had a problem with them ever, over hundreds of orders via their courier. City Link however, I've had numereous problems with, i.e. not delivering goods and saying they tried to deliver even when people were home, and once leaving an item outside my front door where anyone could have stole it.

DHL is the best.

They are so good they got a parcel from norway to the East Midlands in 8 hours then took 3 weeks to try and get it to my house(about 180miles), in the end I rang them and told them not to bother trying - I don't buy anything from companies that only offer DHL anymore.

I have voted for Amtrak as I'm happy with there service here. They usually have it here the next day around 2pm sometimes much earlier, recently I missed a parcel and it was sent out the following day for a re-delivery.

Can't really comment on City-link as haven't used them for years.

I have to say City link. Amtrak's track record of deliveries to my house is beyond dire. Out of nine orders with ocuk, only one was actually delivered to my house. The rest I had to pick up. There is no excuse for that, especially when I was in all day so I know that their driver didn't even try. The depot's attitude is damn disgraceful (Witham depot) and their head office is "aware of the problem".

When I have used other companies that use City Link the parcel has always been delivered on time. This is after approx 15 large online orders. As you can tell i'm not a fan of Amtrak. I'll be honest and say the thought of having to go out to Witham every time I order is putting me off.

edit: forgot to mention, some of my stuff has gone "missing" when it reached the Witham depot as well :(

citylink are usually very good around swansea, had all my packages on time except one that was 2 days late, but apart from that they've been as good as gold

which is more than i can say for my past experiences with amtrak

City Link, I have just purchased a system from you Spie (great btw) but I would have preferred if it was City Link that delivered, they have a depo 5 miles away and not 30 like Amtrak. It just makes it hard to collect if no one is in during the day to sign for a package.

city link, have a much better redelivery process if its the same as it used to be and seem to deliver at better times, oh and the fact they actualy ring the doorbell before assuming you arent in.

for the first few orders from OcUK I had no end of trouble getting amtrak to actually find my house. Much abusive telephoning etc.... but now they turn up 10:00am the day after OcUK send me a shipping confirmation email. Every time. And leave parcels in my sepcial lock up so peeps dont need to sign. They are ok.

edit : nice poll. feels good to be actually asked.

p.s. any chance of ocuk sorting out some sort of order history section so i can review all orders made in the last 24 months. Would be SO useful for me, my customers and my accountant. I know I can phone up and get any invoices resent to me, but every other online etailer has an order history section. That's the one thing about OcUK which annoys. Despatch times, prices and RMA's are among the best in the game.
