never had a problem with either, but i have voted for city link as, in my area, they (generally) deliver around 2-3pm, whereas amtrack come at about 8:30-10am. as there is a lot more chance of me being about (out of bed generally) when citylink are more likely to make the delivery i have chosen them.

city link. Ive had numerous problems with Ocuk and amtrak, spie. Next day to amtrak is really 2 or 3 days time. It doesnt help that every time i post about it my posts get deleted.

Still, at least you seem to be aware of the problem now:)

I have never, ever had an Amtrack delivery actually delivered to my door, which is I don't buy cases or other heavy items from the shop...

Citylink. We use them as our small item courier (TNT for large low value and Palletline for large high value). We trialled Amtrak as a replacement for Citylink a couple of months ago.

No regular driver.
Didn't turn up one day, I had to drive to the depot as no one was answering the phone (and that's the number they give out to clients, not the "enquiries" line.
Lost several packages in the first week.
Emailed US with a list to ask if any shipping references were ours as they didn't know!
etc. etc.

Citylink whilst not perfect are a LOT better than Amtrak in my experience.

I have several companies which supply me at work which use CL, but I notice no-one uses Amtrak. The CityLink deliveries are fine. My first experience of Amtrak was going to thier depot to pick up £1300 worth of OcUK stuff a couple of months ago. The depot was wide open and the only staff member was in a back room. There were no cameras, and I could have stolen a very nice large TFT that someone had ordered with no problems. Or indeed pretty much anything I could carry.

I'm for CityLink.

Been drinking? :D

Citylink in my opinion - on average everything I've received via Amtrak has come on average at 4.30pm and stuff has come the day after using Amtrak. Citylink on the other hand 11am latest. Amtrak guy is more friendlier though but fully admits that his company is crap.

I no longer believe that any one firm is better or worse than the next. In my experience, the quality of service is down to the local depots and individual drivers. The experience of customers in one town will be quite different to those in the next town.

I used to go as far as avoiding suppliers that used city link but we now have a very reliable driver on our city link round and all is well.

I will not vote until Royal Mail is added to the poll as Royal mail ahve more vans going around the country so there is never a chance of a late parcel unless soemthing bad happens. ive always opted for next day delivery with amtrak and once saturday delivery. they either came a day late or never came on saturday but on Monday. This ofcourse was not from OCUK

All of my orders from your competitor come via City Link. They're only ever delayed when the store despatches them late - Citylink are flawless and even the most diabolically packaged parcels seem to arrive intact. Plus the regular driver is a nice chap which helps.

Many moons ago, I held a trade account with Citylink and again they were flawless in terms of collection, delivery and account handling.

Thus, I vote Citylink although I believe couriers are all much of a muchness. Depends a lot on the local depots.

Edit: Before I'm hung, drawn and quartered, I only purchase from them as their range is far larger than yours and they're a 'one stop shop' if I'm making a very large purchase of very small items. They're also cheaper than most trade suppliers which helps. They get the bulk of my business purchases but personal stuff and stuff for family/friends usually comes through OcUK :).

Regarding Royal mail.

The only good service they offer is Special Delivery and that is horifically expensive for anything over 2KG. Signed for 1st and 2nd class are a joke. We offer it purely to provide a low-cost service for light and cheap items, but it's unreliable and when stuff gets lost Royal mail send us a book of stamps. Great

I'd probably never order from you again if you used City Link. In Bristol they are absolutely terrible, I rarely receive a consignment on time and when I do eventually get them they're usually damaged.
I've been on the phone for 15 minutes tonight trying to get them to redeliver a package but nobody would answer the phone.
I've had dozens of bad experiences with them and now refuse to order from companies that use them as it's just not worth the grief. Out of all the orders I've placed with OCUK I've never yet had a problem with the couriers so don't change what's not broken.

I've had numerous orders from both.

CityLink - Professional, uniformed, new/clean vans, always next day, always the say time. Goods arrive undamaged and not dirty! Depot is professional, and ask for ID. Leave goods with neighbours perhaps too easily...

Amtrak - Unprofessional (battered vans, no uniform, the depot's are apalling - I saw parcels being literally thrown out of the back of vans and bounced along a concrete floor). Goods always arrive filty and/or battered! Like City Link, leave goods with anyone who will take them. Don't ask for any ID when picking up parcels - not even the calling card. Just need a signature. :|

Just my thoughts. This is at Aberdeen, but I'm sure it varies around the country.

What about TNT or Parcel Force?

Both have proved to be spotless for me, I've had problems with both Citylink and Amtrack

TNT are awful from my experience from them, at my old computer job we recieved a delivery from tnt and they just threw the stuff out the back of their truck  , at my current job had problems with them too, like not turning up on time
