Sky Broadband Unlimited (20Mbps) but getting max 1.7mbps

Not yet unfortunately :(

I didn't get my wireless adaptor today, it was shipped at like 9am today, when I get back from school tomorrow, ill see if there are any improvements and update you.

Thanks for checking back though :)

Yeah
Just saw that it was sent by second class.
1-2 days after despatch so since it was despatched yesterday at 9am itll come tomorrow I hope?

Didn't you say something about having a laptop in your house with wifi? Just borrow that for the 10 minutes it will take to test.

I would have moved it anyway, and just used the laptop until my stick came.

Try it, you will be amazed at the increase.

Do a speedtest before and after.

My dad uses the laptop so I cant use it :P

Okay, I'll try what you said in a few minutes, just gotta finish this last but very hard maths homework question >.<

It's in the other side of the garden 24 hours a day though, ive got an extension there which is my dads 'office'.

It's so much effort to plug it in, but!

My brother's pc has got a wireless adaptor on it. SO i'll just move my router to the maxter socket and see what internet speeds he's getting

Just read this thread, 12-17 sockets! your house must be massive or you have a phone socket addiction :p

To make sure that you definately have the master socket (you think in your mum n dads bedroom) you can look for where you overhead phone mast is and look which room the cable goes into.

It will be interesting to see how much your noise margins change (on the sky router stats page) when you plug straight into the test socket with the router. Your attenuation may also drop with that much cabling running round the house to all those sockets! could you post the stats page once you have it plugged into the test socket?

I'm very happy with my connection but i live a lot closer to the exchange than you :)

Also bear in mind it's important to plug into the test socket (behind the faceplace) rather than just the master socket, if we're going to eliminate internal wiring as an issue.

Havn't had time to plug it in yet, sorry :(

The boiler in my house broke down and we have no hot water and I wanted to takea shower and it took absolutely ages!

But I'll definitely try tomorrow though, promise! :D

Okay, thanks, ill have my screwdriver handy as well (:

Well, turns out the socket in my dads room made no difference at all, it had the BT logo on it so I thought it was the master socket. I tried the socket downstairs next to the door, it has two cables coming out of it. But, when I do my internet is even slower on speedtest, getitng like 0.7mb/s comapred to the 1.7 id be getting before D: But the speed is still the same for the last two days, 1.5mb/s on the netgear router.
