*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Yeah but it is on NowTV.

I ditched Sky few months now and not missing it. Anything I want off Sky, eg Walking Dead I use NowTV. Got Entertainment voucher for 6 months off the bay for £15 to cover it. Gives me access to Live Sky channels too. Currently Sky Movies is £1.66 per month till end of December although not watched much. If there is a footy match on Sky just buy a day/week pass. Actually watched more on Netflix, Luke Cage (yet to watch), Designated Survivor, few films and its 4k too. Probably saved me about £150 (About £30 a month) or so to date by not having Sky (on a deal) if I was to pay what they wanted me to then it goes upto nearly £400 (About £80 a month)

Can you get BT Sport in HD with NowTV?

What device you using? A now TV box?

How do I get the movies pass for 1.66?

Cheers

Not if there's 60% deals, no

These deals come a go...

If your current bill is £80 a month, they've just offered you £480 off over the next 12 months, which IMHO is very good! And you're worried about getting another £5-10 a month off?

I'm pretty sure when I say these offers come and go, we've seen posters on this thread do what you're doing, and "unhappy" with 50% off faff about to find they lose that offer and only get something less instead...

50% is an extremely fair offer IMHO (the most I've ever had is around 40 odd percent, which I consider good)... But by all means see if you can do better... But I believe you're potentially gambling...

I'm just going through the cancellation now. Currently have multi room with everything bar the sports packages. I cancelled last week and have a 50% off offer on the website if I stay with what I have got.

I have been on the phone to them just now to see what discounts I can get on Sky Q and have been told it is whatever the main discount being offered is (50% off) plus £12 a month for Q. The offer on the boxes was £60 for the 2TB and £40 for the Q multi room box. This doesn't seem that good to me considering you don't even own the box.

My question is can i get better than this for sky Q and will they phone me back or do i need to chase it up in a few weeks?

Not against re-signing up in my wife's name if I can get a better deal that way.

What's the picture quality like over NowTV?

As regards watching things like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones, when do you get to watch them? ie: How soon after they've aired?

I tried it on the PS3..Free trial...To scratch my curiosity itch...

The app was like treacle..unusable...

I then tried it on Apple TV gen 3. Its a complete transformation

720p Live TV with 720p On demand

The Apple TV Now TV apps is quick and the IQ is very good...I just bought 6 months entertainment pass for £16

Ep 2 Season 7 was available to watch on the night it was aired on TV.

TBH it looks pretty good on my Panny Plasma...

Defo worth the 2.66 per month :p

I tried Now TV via my PS4 and thought the IQ was dreadful, so I went back to Sky. I believe it was 720p but it relies on your internet connection of course. I've got 45mbit down so it shouldn't have been an issue.

Oh... I'm confusing this with Sky Go then!? Their dedicated download box thingy...

Yeah the IQ on the PS3 was awful.

The Apple TV is great.

I'm on 74mbs Fibre. Quick scanning and searching...Very liiitle buffering and lag.

Now TV for me is a keeper...Alongside Prime, Netflix and freesat.

These channels using Apple TV.

16 quid for 6 months...Bargain!

£25 a month for full TV - Movies and Sports. I said I wanted to get rid of Sky Go extra but they kept that on and knocked the £5 off too.

Turns out Sky don't do 12 month offers any more so that was for 10 months then back to full price for 2 months.

They would not budge on that. :(

EDIT: Turns out I can ring back in 9 months and they will see what they can do so not too bad in the end.

Enquired about Sky Q which is the standard £12 extra a month which again is not too bad to get Sky upstairs - only downside is they want £100 for installation.... need to think about that one.

I got a 12 month deal last week, they will do it

After talking to sky earlier. They phoned me back and offered the 50% off for 12 months still but with one month free and no contract. He said they can't really do anything with sky q at the minute but as I wouldn't be in contract I can take them up on any offers that do come up over the next 12 months or cancel at any time. I'm happy with that so have stayed with them now.

How much is that a month then? and what do you get?

I have everything including multiroom except the sports pack. It was £816 a year(68 x12) and have now got it for £374 (£34x11). Taking multiroom off would have dropped it another £6 a month to £28.

New customer deal for sky Q and F and F code is £12 a month for sky q silver which includes multiroom as standard. You get everything apart from movies and sport.

Your always better off cancelling then signing up in another name as a new customer. I rotate between myself and the wife for instance.

I did ask about sky q but they wanted £60 for the silver box and £40 for the mini. Are these free with no setup cost on a new deal? I always have that option as I'm not in contract, I'm expecting some deals to come out around Christmas time.

No but then again I have BT TV.

Now TV black box. NowTV website, not sure whether offer is over now as it started 28/09.

Not bad its 720p I think but in the settings it lets me chose 1080p. (new black box) Sky 1/Atlantic channels are okay but Sky Sports is a bit ropey. Better than SD but its a bit jerky even on BT Infinity 2. Watchable though.

Live as you can view Sky 1/Sky Atlantic etc same as Sky then on demand after episode has aired like Sky.
