*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Everyone gets told how long the contract is when they sign up. Same as they get told how long the offer they've taken is for too. If someone asks, sure, we'll tell you, but we don't go sending everyone who signs up a letter saying 'Oh BTW, your contract/The offer you took has finished' because it prompts people to look for more offers or cancel. You do realise the intention of a business is to supply goods and/or services at a charge with the intention to make a profit, right?

when you log in to your CONTRACT details it should have all the details, not sure why you are not getting this simple fact. Do you work for SKY? your post implies you do.

I do work for Sky and I haven't made that a secret. I got no notification of my contract ending with my mobile contract on Virgin Mobile. If I didn't call them and move to sim only they'd have carried on charging me 33 a month!

I get notification by text and email of my 2 O2 mobile contracts coming to an end and wanting me to stay/extend/update, which I always do as its transparent and easy to follow. Sky make it hard to find the info and play games with your contract and options to upgrade or stay or terminate then call you after you terminated with offers to come back- what a waste of everyones time that is, me, call centre staff, install people, billing etc etc

p.s I never said you made it a secret you worked there, I just asked if you did. Sorry if that touched a nerve.

Don't worry mate you're good. :) Sky are in a position where they have no major, direct competitors. No one does everything sky do. Mobile companies are 7 or 8 that can do everything O2 do so they fight harder to make you stay.

So, I know this isn't as good as many manage to get. At the end of the day I was looking for an offer that I felt acceptable for the amount that I use the system.
Currently paying £19/month, package was going up to £38/month from May - Everything except Movies & Sport.
Just had an online conversation and I've been offered the exact same package I'm on for £18/month so long as I agree to 18 months.
I find the programs that I watch are worth around the £20/month to me, so I'm happy with this offer and I've taken it.

Sky operates in a highly competitive environment. There's lots of competition and rapidly evolving technology creates even more opportunity for other services to be created.

Sky bring it all together in one convenient place though. I'm not saying Sky don't have competition, but Sky does it better. Many times on this forum and elsewhere I've heard or seen people leaving Sky for Virgin or BT and coming right back after their contract is up with complaints of slow boxes, poor customer service and confusing EPG's.

Try going to www.sky.com/reviewmyoptions
My package is due to end on the 18th and I've just had a text come through. The offer for me is 60% off and £50 credit for 12 months on any Sky+ TV package

I might be jumping the gun a bit but so far I've heard nothing back from Sky regarding a confirmation of the offer acceptance.
Have any of you guys that also went for this offer had anything?
I'll probably give them a call tomorrow if there is still nothing

I'm cancelling my sky tomorrow, my discount is coming to an end & to be honest if I don't get at least 60% off I will not be renewing. I'm not watching it enough to be paying over £100 per month.

I spoke to Sky and there were no sign of me accepting the offer and I now notice they have pulled the offer from the site.
They are still honoring the deal on chat though

How are people getting sky Q for £50?

I have the 60% off and £50 credit deal but sky q is listed as a £199 one off fee!!
I didn't manage to get around the one off fee, but I now have Sky Q (in 4 rooms, 2TB box, Sports) for £49 a month. It was a hefty up-front fee, though.

You may say that and you have a motive for doing so, but I have been with sky for over 20yrs and I have, sorry had their whole package(minus Bt Sports as it was too pricey on Sky) at £134pm. Virgin cable has now been laid in my street and I can get everything I need plus BT Sport and 200 speed on broadband for £85pm. 2nd October 2017 is my contract end date, I have cancelled Sky Sports and Cinema saving £36pm and am still paying £96pm. I will not be taking a deal, not that they have ever offered me one, I will cancel Sky 31 days before 2/10/17 and be done with them and their crap broadband speeds.

I've stayed with Virgin for BB only, £38PM for 60MB and phone. SKY for rest, whole tv package for £30pm but that offer finishes shortly.

I cancelled it a while back and keep getting letters through for 60% from pretty much days after I cancelled.

Got a 75% offer few weeks ago (sky.com/offer75) so I caved, £9.50 a month for boxsets bundle can't complain.

Not sky but just rang virgin to see if I can get a better deal as only got 20 days left on contract. Was offered £1 off my bill and that's if I dropped my TV and phone line to just fibre. Bit of a joke. in the 30 days cancellation period now so see if they give a call back. If not im on the hunt for a decent fibre provider and will get a freesat box :) They used to be really good at offering stuff and i've been very successful in the past but this guy just said they are rolling out a new scheme to give existing customers a better deal but its not currently active in my area  He didn't try at all.
