*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

My contract ended yesterday, was paying £56 for everything bar fibre/kids/bt sport, went on live chat this morning was offered same package for £65 and £20 admin charge , I turned it down.
I then called them up an hour later ended up with same package for £54 a month , there was a £10 admin charge but I said remove it and I,ll accept the deal which he agreed to , so overall quite happy.

What speeds are people actually getting on these renewal deals? As it's kind of a useless comparison without that.

The broadband on it's own can fluctuate by £30 depending on the speed.

36Mb? 60? 150? 500? 1Gb?

Lol, I'm getting ads for Netflix on Sky Go, surely that's got to be wasted spend considering Netflix is included with Sky these days?

Then again, maybe it's to encourage people to log into their Netlix accounts and use them. Maybe? Just seems odd!

Lol how was you paying just 56 before for that? It’s normal close to 100 for that!

Most bundles seem to have it as standard now but I bet there are many tens of thousands of customers who don't have it and they can upsell to and make a bit more money.

More cynically I think Sky want customers to see Netflix as part of their offering so you don't cancel Sky as you're using Netflix. As opposed to binning Sky and just using Netflix standalone.

I rang Sky yesterday to switch over to Sky stream as I wanted to have 4k on all my TV's and also reduce to my package as its currently £123 a month!

Ended up getting talked in to going down the sky glass route (43" TV) with 3 stream pucks for my other rooms and the same TV / Broadband - now £111 - not really what I was planning :D:D but I can stick the glass in the dining room and replace an LG TV and Sonos 1 soundbar and then get 4k in the other rooms plus have 4k in my main TV and AV room.

Dear lord, Sky Glass? Good luck!

After 9 years with Sky, I actually went through with the cancellation and they sent the cardboard boxes through yesterday in order to return everything.
I usually get a good deal for the TV package but I've got little time for greed so let it go.

It makes me chuckle that Sky Mobile ads emphasise the 'no nasty surprises' aspect of having no mid contract price increase and yet they are more than happy to hit you with it on the TV side.
I last agreed a contract for the full TV pack at £53 and yet the bill was just about to go up to £73.

Anyway, I've subscribed to F1 TV Pro, spent £15 on a new LNB for the Sky dish in order to view Freesat and also purchased a 2tb HDD to plug into the TV to record things if required.
iPlayer, ITVx etc have the rest covered and we already subscribe to Prime, Netflix and what not.

I can't see us returning to Sky. Believe in better ;)

I know - apparently its improved dramatically so we'll see!!

Its only going to be used occasionally in the dining room as I've got an LG OLED in the lounge and JVC NP5 in the cinema room so don't need it to wow me everyday aslong as its not ridiculously bad!!

For over £100 a month I'd want it to wash the dishes and give me a tug now and then.

It's riddled with firmware issues and everyone I know that's had one has ended up sending it back or simply not using it as it's that bad.
