*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Not on topic as such but I didn't want to create a new thread.

I have the MySky and SkyStore apps on my phone linked to my Mums SkyQ at her house and I often select a few things to be "Sent to my SkyQ box", so they end up in the recordings section of her SkyQ.
I was wondering if its possible (I doubt it) to send stuff to the recordings section of her box from other sources, such as Amazon Prime Video.

She is already signed into it on her SkyQ but it would be easier to find if I could, in essence, bookmark programs for her.

Stupid question I guess, can you give your 30 days notice to start on a certain date? My contract is due to end on the 27th June and I was wondering if it's possible to give notice tomorrow example that I wish to cease services when the contract ends.

Just rang up and cancelled. They did offer some discount but it wasn't a great deal, then they offered Sky Stream, again, it doesn't make it worth it. They'd have to offer Signature & Sports for under £50 a month for me to want to stay, as otherwise I can just go to Virgin Media and it'll work out cheaper.

I left Sky last month, they've started sending me discount codes in the post.
Last one I got was Signature & Sports for £35 so it is possible but you might have to leave first!

Joke it's not bundled together really.
I had to ring twice. The first woman I spoke to said I was unable to cancel my contract until x date (which was 31 days before the end). She also then tried to justify the HD cost saying she doesn't even have a HD TV. I said who doesn't have a HD TV in 2023, stop reading from a script. She was a bit of a dick about the whole thing really, trying to be really condescending and not listening to what I was saying.

I read the contract, and it states a minimum of 31 days. I rang back, got through to someone else and he was fine. Had to do the usual dance about what content we use. I just said we never use Sky and all viewing is on YouTube/iPlayer/Netflix. I said I'm put off by the football now due to the whole Liverpool/Man U rivalry the presenters all bring up and how it's cringeworthy viewing. I also said the F1 is a farce and is boring, and I'd rather just wait and watch the highlights on YouTube for free. He tried to bundle in broadband but I said I need static IP for work which he sort of understood. He finally put the cancellation through for the date my contract ends.

If Sky come back and offer sub £45 for Signature (we only want Netflix from this tbh) and Sport in UHD we will probably take it, otherwise Virgin looks tempting and I get backup broadband.

What happens with the Sky Q box when you leave Sky - not in a sense of the physical hardware but more the software? I assume you can still use it to watch free to air channels and use the catchup/apps etc? Would the EPG still update and all that but you just wouldnt get any Sky channels?

You have to send your SKY Q box back to SKY.

How are folks finding Sky customer services recently? I’ve always found them pretty decent but I’m having a terrible time recently trying to talk to them about my broadband. I’m deaf so need to use Typetalk, a call routing service where someone speaks for me and transcribes the call. I’ve never ever had an issue before even with banks. Sky refuse to talk to me as it’s through a third party which is a nonsense argument. I persevered and was directed to the Sky Accessibility web page where it recommends I contact them through Typetalk…

As my email follow up has been ignored (something else which is surprising as Sky CS was good at replying to emails too), I’ll just wait and give them enough rope before quoting the Equality Act 2010 to them.
