*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

my half price deal ended last month so i called up on saturday to cancel, today i received a call offering me the same package i have at the moment(Sky HD Pack, Variety and movies) for £32, thats only £2 more than i was paying.

This is what makes me so mad! 13 years paying a fortune and they offer me a measly couple of quid discount!

Ethernet causes you to be lazy?

?
I mean i don't have plug socket spare so would be a PITA to have something else to plug in.

My other house i had a network point behind the tv/sky box so it wasn't an issue, in this house at the moment, when i want to use the 'anytime' i have to run a cable from my router in hallway into the front room, not ideal.

When i went to leave last year they offered me £2 off, i laughed down the phone and had to ask the guy if he was joking! but 2 weeks later i had a call offering me 50% off.

I was one of the first people to get sky tv in the UK back in 1990 and I have had the full package ever since. I phoned after the footie season to cancel and they told me they will give me HD free for 3 months.

I cancelled and that was that. I've been using a motorised dish for years so I have and always had a backup plan.

It would appear as though it is literally the luck of the draw with Sky - phoned at lunch with the intention of cancelling and going to Freesat for the TV and Plusnet for phone and broadband (£2.50 p/m for the broadband for 12 months plus £12.99 p/m (effective) for the line rental.

Only downside would have been having to shell out £200+ for a Freesat HD PVR and possibly another unit for the bedroom!

Contrary to the **** I spoke to yesterday, I was able to get some significant discounts without having to go through with the cancellation and hoping for a call in a week or so!

Oh well, same saga next year no doubt!!!

The newer wifi connectors don't have a dedicated PSU, the run off the box's juice.

Cancelled sky today, was paying £27/month for HD variety pack. The guy on the phone asked why, told him I could take Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV sub for £21 and it offered much more than I could get with my current sky sub. He offered me a discounted rate of £22.40 for 8 months going back to £28 in the 9th month. Told him it was no good and he said ok, no problem, didn't even try to keep me as a customer.

Looking to cancel the TV now after being with them for a long time. This time around its because they are putting up the prices yet again! No doubt to offset the cost of the new sports channel & giving everyone free broadband

Finding them far too expensive just for a couple of channels.

Lol! Cheaper for 8 months, then MORE expensive from then on! Bargain :)

Interested in ditching sky myself, recently cancelled the movies and swapped to a different package to save money. Interested in a now tv box or roku3 but not sure how I would go about recording programs to watch back as the boxes don't offer that service. I'm not even sure if that's required, did I read they don't stream live tv? Does that mean it's like an on demand service so I could watch anything whenever? I'd want to pay a subscription for things like sky and sky Atlantic as we seem to watch a fair few programmes on those channels.

LOL..I did, as soon as he told me the offer, I said no and I wanted to cancel. He just sort of said ok, will be actioned within a month from today.

Ah I see fair enough. Will be surprised if they don't ring you back offering you something better within that time. :)
