*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

So how long are you down for typically between cancellation and the "new customer" coming online?

What does the engineer usually say when they come along with a new box, and see your old one (already wired in & working) there?

You don't get downtime, just set the install date to the day before the old service ceases

it looks like they are cottoning on tho as they threatened me with I couldnt have a new install for 12 months at my address if i left

Thats not true, i am not sure why they would threaten that :p Think about it, if that were true it would prevent any houses with new occupants signing up to sky.

Remembered this thread, just FYI just had phone call offering 67% off any package including free new kit install including box and dish.

I`ve been without Sky for about two years..........tempting.

I logged in and got offered 35% for next 12 months no contract, this takes into account the june price hike.

So instead of 98.25 im now going to pay 73.57, that will do me its 7 quid less then last year, im sure i could have got more but i would have actually had to leave, which i didnt really want.

I called Sky yesterday as my movies was about to go full price and got 50% for 3 months. Fine.

I went onto the website later in the day and it let my click through to cancel HD and on the last page offered 50% for 6 months. I then clicked through multiscreen to cancel and it also gave me 6 months for 50% off.

Today, I used online chat to ask how much the premiums would be and was told that I could only have one offer at a time. I said why did the website give me these offers if I couldn't have them and was told the website offers them but you can't have them together. Sigh.

So, going to think about ditching it altogether just to see how we get on. The F1 has got so boring I could happily just buy a week pass using NowTV. Is online chat as good as on the phone when it comes to cancelling? My bill isn't as much as most but anything other than 50% off the lot for 12 months will have me finally cutting the cord!

Just cancelled mine, got it as a freebie for SkyF1 then on ~£15 a month after that. I did agree to a renewal at the same price but then the guy on the phone mentioned he misread the deal and was only half price on the basic pack so would be £22/mo. Suddenly he was faced with a dilemma of signing a customer up to a new deal with no cooling off period at the wrong price. I have been warned to expect angry cancellation charges letters so will be a fun month ahead!

Can`t wait to ring Sky as my contract is due for re-new , i have good feeling i will not be getting the same offer for another 12 or 18 months contract

I am on £37.50 per month

I am getting

Family with Sports + Sky Sports 5 & Movies , Sky+HD , Sky Fibre Unlimited + Line Rental , Sky Talk Weekends ,

Got 60% off full sky 12 months (Movies, Sports HD etc) plus £100 credit on my account. My Sky was due to switch off on Sunday.

Pretty easy work.

I was offered £6.50 off, then he said he managed to get it to £12 off. Was paying £55 a month. Plus its just about to go up £3.50pm.

No thanks, im out

Just put through my cancellation, guy wouldn't budge on 50% off for 12months that I wanted best he could do was £12.50 for 10months, will either go without or the wife can sign up as new customer. They are pretty rubbish anyway, annoyed that price hike for sports is hitting those without sports the most

it's one of their ploys to stop you from leaving.

i cannot believe people fall for them. i have stated many times in this thread you are wasting your time haggling. quit then re-join in your partners (or someone elses) name.

you get 50% off plus quidco cashback plus all new boxes without any hassle.

then join back in your own name after 12 months and get 50% off plus cashback and all new boxes again.

sell old boxes on and your quids in. by staying loyal and haggling your never going to get a better or even similar deal than the above.

Nice I obviously didn't push hard enough

Went with 50 credit 35% off but no contract

if its no contract you can always cancel again in a few months?

I only got the 35% Too, was too eager to accept their offer should have waited atleast a week as even after I agreed on the web chat i got phone calls from sky

yeah thats the problem with todays society no one rewards loyalty no more so its fair for everyone to act like a shark in a feeding frenzy:D

yeah to be fair they said I could re-cancel straight after phone call

and be in same position as I was before phone-call-but just with the final bill paid for (with the 50 quid credit)
