*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

LOL! You seriously don't think 50% off is a reasonable offer for what you get from Sky?:confused:

Reasonable and best are different things, the best offer banded around at the moment is a £100 account credit and 60% off on top. Rather better than 50% off alone.

I recently cancelled and I've been offered 50% off Sky TV ie there entertainment package so saving £18 and £50 cashback. Been paying £124 a month :eek: they can shove it. Not worth it.

I've just resigned up for sky original with movies and multi room (2 new boxes) for £29.75 a month which was 50% plus multi room.

i had been offered a higher reduction but it was based on me using existing sky boxes but they had both stopped working so I'm hoping that after 12 months I can cancel and get a better overall price.

My contract is up... Where do I stand? How long does it take for the 50% to appear on your account if you cancel?

If I cancel, then sign up again with quidco, do you get new customer offers both on SKY and Quidco, or is there a cooling off period?

Any advice would be grand :)

Edit: Nevermind, just got Sky with all the 'standard' packs and Sky Sports for £35. Not bad!?

If you'd waited until they cut you off then you would have got everything for ~£26 after discounts.

I cancelled Sky TV years back by (telephone what a mistake)

Payments were still taken from my account even though I'd removed the card from their box. Numerous calls & payments took place  The outcome which I was unaware of I could only cancel in writing the ++++++++

Currently thinking of cancelling, but am on the 'Old' HD package where I am gettign the HD pack with F1 bundled too. Am not intersted in watching other sports tbh.

Do you reckon it would be worth jibbing it in and seeing what they offer as a comeback incentive?

Paying £41.25 which i feel is a wee bit too much.....

You have nothing to lose, im paying £18.66 for sports and family in hd , you have to put a months notice in and turn down any offers, you get the best offer the day after its switched off.

If you do get to the point where it actually goes off you WON'T be able to get the Legacy HD pack back, you will have to take Sports to get F1 so don't call their bluff too much!

They've just offered me 50% discount. But we have already moved so need new dish etc.

Wonder if I can push them for a new install if we stay...............

You could call their bluff and try for a big discount regardless. Even if you push it too far you can always call back a couple of days before the cancellation date and say you've changed your mind!

I've had 3 years of discount now and have never actually cancelled (although I will this time in an attempt to access the 60%). I've always been called back and, in the same phonecall was offered 25%, then 35%, and the 50% when the first 2 were refused. The initial call to cancel offered only 10%.

May look at new connection offers, but with just TV as tintyweb and phone with Plusnet for another 13 months.

The account at the moment is in my old house mates name and I 'took it over' but just on payment side as he moved out of the house we were lodging in and did not need it any more where he moved as was in is dads gaff and he had it there.

May be able to get something very tidy out of that......

I rejoined sky after they rang offering 60% off and £100. I had been using a 1tb humax box for a month and soon found the 500gb sky box soon fill up after a few days of being back on. Sky wanted £250 for the 2tb but managed to find one on facebook sales pages for £40 :D

The cheap monthly subs make it a no brainer.

Parents just had their sky cancellation processed. 21 years with Sky and paying £70+ a month and they offered £4 a month off the bill via phone and £8 off via letter - insulting tbh. They already ordered BT now - how sky treat long term loyal customers is a disgrace

Not really related. I cancelled my nowtv ent. and mov. package, and for each one it gave me 50% off for 4 months!

I took the deal. I don't watch sport much, so this NowTV rocks.

I've currently got the Sky+ entertainment and sports pack (all 5 sports channels plus F1), with multiroom (but no HD), as well as Sky phone and fibre. All that is costing me a fraction over £100 a month at the moment. Am I paying way over the odds? I've just checked BT's website and it seems I could get a similar bundle for £84.99 and it would include HD and even UHD. The one big downside is that it only seems to include Sky Sports 1 and 2, and I really like having all the sports channels included in my Sky bundle.

Having said that, do you think it's worth calling Sky and seeing if I could get anything else out of them? I'd like HD in particular.
