*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

If you're out of contract then absolutely call, mention BT Sport and you'll at least get a discount of some sort. You may need to be willing to at least get part way through the 31 days though!

virgin are doing a bundle with the top tv(with sky sports, movies,HD) and broadband and basic phone for £75ish for 9 months then 9 at full price, around £100. mention a deal to sky and they will drop your package. You can get 50% off quite easily for 12 months.

I've just binned off Sky. Was paying £36 PCM for ADSL+ (8mb), any time calls, line rental & family pack in HD. I've had the same for 2 year's !!!

Now you would have thought they'd want to keep me, Yes ? Nope...

Call 1 - To sky was to see what they could offer as it risen to £65 PCM, the offer was £10 off ! Told I'd be canceling in the next couple of days.
Call 2 - I thought I'd give them a few days to see if they'd call me & give me a better offer but they did'nt call. The next offer was £18 off, no where near what I'd be happy to pay. Left the call saying I'm still leaving.
Call 3 - Again thought they'd call me after a two weeks to keep my money ! Nope, nothing. So this time I've told them I want out of the TV, was given a date for cut off (30 days notice).

The date came up & I was still connected ? The missus was happy as she had loads of **** on there to watch. I left it to see if they had the date wrong, a month had past & they pulled another £65 out of my account.

Now I know I was using the service & really I should have phoned sooner but I really wanted to see if they'd canceled the TV payment & still was getting the TV :D
After another call to see if they'd still want me & to give them hell about "a so called admin error" & they still wanted £50 to continue with my package.

In the end I walked away with their internet anytime call's & line rental (on a rolling monthly) as the service is good (for gaming) for £28, I got four month's free internet, line rental & phone for their admin error.

So, now I'm looking for other ways to stream stuff (I say this carefully as I don't know if we are aloud to talk about Kodi streams). Can anyone point me in the way of a thread within the forum (I've looked around but could find much about) or have any recommendations ?

Cheers

Cancelled my Sky contract last month and it cut off last Friday. Logged into Sky account and started a live chat about the 60% off + £100 credit offer. Was all sorted within 15 mins and now paying ~£41 a month for Family bundle + HD + fiber unlimited + cheapest phone package/line rental.

My only complaint now is that the internet hasn't been re-enabled yet although the TV + phone have. Called Sky about this and they said it can take 7-14 days for this to go through again. Why!?

from ending the re subscribing conversation how long did it take for tv to come back on?

Takes about 30 minutes from my experiences.

Tho I didn't need to speak to anyone. I just followed the link in MySky and selected which package I wanted to sign up to.

Quick question as my discount is due to come to an end...If i do actually get to the stage of being cutoff and then i reconnect again with say 50% offer - is all my previously recorded stuff accessible again??.. I know it sounds silly but missus is asking and i dont actually know the answer??.. cheers...

My current deal ends next month and will cancel, I hold off and see if any deals appear, I need a new box as well.

Assuming you get reactivated on the same channel, yes.

Because it requires an Openreach engineer visit. Your services were effectively cut off and disconnected.

Thanks, I take it that it was disconnected at the nearest fiber cabinet as part of that process?

I left the house for an hour after the live chat and the tv services were back on when I came in. So less than an hour.

sky just called and have offered 50% of my tv packages + 35% of hd and £100 credit - £39 per month on rolling monthly, no contract for 12 months. After that it goes back to full price and i cancel again :P

Think I'll do the same

Phone
Fibre BB
HD Multi room
Family pack
HD is the current package

Near £55 a month.

You just reminded me :p

I need to do this on Thursday (30 days notice for end of contract)

When I had broadband with them they gave me half price line rental & free broadband, but as I was moving in (the house was uninhabitable) the broadband speed was only 2mb and fibre kept being put back, went Virgin in the end.

Got another call from Sly, will outline the deal here if anyone else is looking to renew this is what's on offer.
They gave me movies & sports with hd pack multi screen new proper hd box and free installation for around £36 a month. That'd be 60% off and a further £100 cashback for good measure...
I politely declined.

Sky offered me 50% off TV plus discounted line rental when I called to cancel yesterday. I took the TV deal but not the phone deal - I'm going to switch phone/internet to BT for sport and didn't want to be tied down.

4 and a half hours ago I was on the phone to sky and verbally agreed a contract renewal.
I've thought it over this afternoon and decided that actually the renewal isn't right for me.
so.. I called them back asking to cancel and they've told me it will cost over £400 to cancel.

Has anyone encountered this sort of BS before? do sky not offer a grace period for contract renewals?

Any advice?
