** Star Wars Episode VII - SPOILERS WITHIN **

There were a few underdeveloped characters like Phasma, I'm assuming they'll appear more in the next ones perhaps? If not big missed opportunity. Also no way is Ren dead. I think Rey beating him in combat is not that crazy, she's shown to be a pretty competent fighter and he is clearly highly unstable and unlike Anakin barely trained at all. Most of his time using a lightsaber has been slashing up consoles and killing unarmed people. I think his character has potential, it'll be down to how they use him in the next episodes.

Yeah it would have been nice to see Han and Luke. I actually thought the biggest missed opportunity was showing Ren hugging Leia after Han's death. I felt it should have been Chewie after all they've shared.

Good news is I just read Phasma will be returning in 8 so hopefully we get to develop her character more.

Of course Luke could beat Ren. I imagine that reasons for him vanishing are something different. Remember Ren had just killed his father as well, he was hardly in a good mental state!

A lot of people have been asking why Leia isn't a jedi. It's clear that she hasn't trained at all (and with Luke gone who would she learn from?)

Just sat down in odeon to watch this 22:45 viewing. Hope im not disappointed.

Also can't believe the prices in the cinema these days I remmeber used to be £4 to watch a film £12 now! Not to mention drinks etc (took my own) sod that. Not been for ages!

No wonder people pirate..

...Have you not been since the original trilogy?

Because (uses Han's voice) that's not how The Force works. Because even by OT training standards you don't normally get to do the cutest Kiera Knightley "Jedi?" impressions hearing about the legends being true for the first time on Monday morning flight onboard Falcon Millennium and by Wednesday defeat mind probing, do your own mind control and win light sabre fights against someone who was disciple of Luke as a child, leader of Knights of Ren as a teenager and Sith Lord in the making by his early twenties.

Says who? As Yoda says in the originals, Do or do not, there is no try.

Luke: I don't, I don't believe it.
Yoda: That is why you fail.

Doing something with the force is nothing to do with training, it's an inherent ability that is all to do with belief. Luke not lifting the X-wing was nothing to do with a lack of training, it was because he didn't believe he could do it.

When Rey resisted Ren's torture she shook his belief in himself. He's clearly used to having nobody contest him. Couple that with the injuries and the mental effect of murdering his won father and it's really not that had to believe that Rey could get the edge in a fight.

Everything is possible, but a plot device, some hint, McGuffin is needed. It's the difference between forecasting future plot based on information provided and us coming up with excuse for plot hole. It's also the difference between someone being paid to write a water tight story to the most demanding franchise on Earth, and us three suing Disney in couple of years for creating entire back story actually used in the next episode.

What I'm saying is you can't call it a plot hole until you've seen the entire trilogy. There are lots of things we don't know yet that might be explained in the next parts.

Remember we don't know that Anakin couldn't do that, maybe choosing to deflect them was just what he preferred. There's nothing to suggest that Ren is the most powerful force user the galaxy has seen.
