Can you buy expansions oN Steam for a non-Steam game?
I have The Witcher 3 (on GOG galaxy).
Was going to buy expansions in Steam sale but Steam says I do not have the base game. I tried adding it to Steam manually (as a non-Steam game) and Witcher3 shows up In Steam now but Steam still thinks I don’t have the base game installed for the expansions.
Is this doable or just not worth the effort?

I picked up GTA5 and would love a controller so i can actually use this steam link i have sat in the box still. I am used to an xbox controller but i have read it has to be an S controller to be used wirelessly. Is the steam controller work a look at? Reviews seem bad but are old videos online. But nearly half the price of an xbox pad.
No, it's not possible. You're in the same boat as me. I'm looking at getting the GOTY on Steam just to have it all there. I don't really use GoG much at all. At the moment though, I am waiting for TW3 to drop further before I do that. I've got loads of other games to play anyway!

Never got the Steam link or controller because I think of a time where it would be better playing on a sofa rather than at my desk but I did get Squad and Doom which are pretty cool.

Yes I was going to buy the GOTY version on Steam but then my character would be back to zero! It's a pain.
Your character and progress will continue on as normal if you get it on Steam. The game saves files locally and I don't think that Steam will use a different folder (unless you use cloud saves, which you won't the first time you run the game because you don't have a save on Steam yet). They're in Documents\My Games\The Witcher 3. Perhaps take a copy of this folder before you run it on Steam, but your saves and configuration should carry across onto your Steam game.

I have to say, I'm on the fence with this to.
Picked up the forest, only played about an hour but seems great, first night saw a couple of enemy standing by a tree and we just stood there for about two minutes just staring at each other

Absolutely, found a cave with a rope, climbed all the way down with my lighter, heard the screeching and saw something move, nope nope climbed back up
Get the Xbox controller mate. It’s well worth the expense, the steam controller is nothing like a normal console device.
I got the Xbox one and I’m delighted with it, use it on my pc too.
