It's about integrity really.

Going to China, to a mickey mouse league, is not really the level he should be playing at by choice. It's semi-retirement for a player that still could win more in other top European leagues. See Ronaldo and Ibrahimović for examples of top world class players that didn't go to China for the easy life post 30.

How so?, Palace made it quite clear they want £80m, personally I would rather we went for Zaha though.

I don't think anyone is leaving, we have already lost a few players on a free such as Ramsey, Welbeck. Koscielny looks like his on his way out though.

That is arguably something that has been lost. Arsenal were always fantastic defensively before Wenger took over. He added that attacking flair which balanced everything out and ended with the invincibles. After they lost that defensive backbone they have been poor for the best part of 15 years.

Yeah but we recouped no money from any of those, and will only get a small fee for Koscielny. Such a big spend goes against they've done in the past.

I hope that is the case, it's about time. We only just missed out on the top 4, a little bit of investment in January would have probably put us in it.

I’d prefer if we spent £70mill on a few decent defenders to be honest.

Seeing Mustafi in defence gives me shudders, he is so unbelievably crap that no team wants him lol. If we are stuck with him then just bench him or stick him in the reserves and bring him out when we have our usual stupid injuries.

I rate him, but not at 80m. He’s a 35-40m player at most imo.

Maybe 3-4 years ago but the market is nuts at the moment. Unless he ups his game he isn't worth £80m but players are signed on unrealised potential so much these days. Hes also a big fish in a small pond at Palace so he is allowed to do what he wants and if he does something good 1 in 3 goes that good. At Arsenal he would have to be doing that far more consistently or he will be a detriment to the overall squads quality.

Not great examples considering Ibra is playing in America...

Ronaldo went to Juve, one of the biggest clubs in the world on megabucks. Did he take a pay cut? I don't think so. Where are the indications that Bale had any offers like that?

Quite possibly a case of the club trying to shut up a few whining supporters but like Van Den Berg, it's being suggested that he's going to be training with the first team straight away and could possibly feature for us sooner than some expect.
