These people have made their money through investments so i am sure they know what their doing.

By investments you mean being part of the ruling family of a state with loads of oil (in the Sheikh's case) or being part of the worlds biggest mafia (in RA's case)?|

If I questioned whether Chelsea were a big European side, I assume you're taking the **** when you mention City?

As for the others, Utd are fine, Barca and Real will be fine providing they don't go on another massive spending spree and I have no idea about Juve.

Chelsea and City can meet the regulations but that's providing they massively cut back their spending (both on transfer fees and wages) and make significant improvements on their commercial deals. In other words, replace Drogba, Lampard etc with cheaper players on less money and sign commercial deals to rival Liverpool, Utd's etc.

they might think to blow it all this season and cut back over the next couple, it's 3 years it needs to average out over iirc.

*edit and isn't it this year that the owners are still allowed to absorb something like a 30million loss?

Yep
In Sheikh Mansour's case he actually has a big personal fortune but controls the investment side of Abu Dhabi royal family as well.
The most recent one i can remember is Sheikh buying a large portion of Barclays then a few month later selling for something like a 4bn profit. Pretty sure that was a personal investment.

IINM, an equity injection of €45m (total between the 2 seasons) can be made for the first 2 seasons, then it's cut to €30m (total) for the next 3 seasons.

Of course you can use up all that €45m in the first season and then break even the 2nd season but as you know, any money spent now will have knock on effects for future seasons; transfer fees aren't booked straight away, it's spread over the length of the players contract; e.g. Torres's fee won't go down on Chelsea's accounts for this year as £50m, it will be £10m (£50m over 5 years).

And where did he get the money to make these investments (not that he invests the money himself anyway)? Savings from his paper round?

Like say, Hernandez

Yes because Hernandez is totally an out and out goal machine.

He is doing well at the moment, is he the kind of 'super striker' I am talking about? No he is not.
United need a Drogba/Shearer/Van Nistelrooy a line leading top draw striker who you can count on for 20+ league goals at least a season.
Hernandez is doing well, he is part of the bigger picture, its not a either or situation but a 'as well as' situation.

Of course he's an out and out goal machine!

In his first season in England he's scored 16 with a bit part role, he could easily be a 20+ goalscorer when he's first choice.

He might be phrasing it very badly but I too think United need a physical target man to be putting lesser teams to the sword like we should be doing. Hernandez is an extremely good poacher and all the rest, but I can see him getting easily marked out of a game against big opposition with large CBs who know what they're doing for example.

UTD are the leading goal scorers in the league and that with an off form Wayne Rooney all season

Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez, Welbeck, Macheda, maybe Owen and Diouf as well, up front it the last position that needs investing in tbh

GK, Defence and Midfield are all higher priorities

With regards to the forwards though, Macheda will be sold imo, Welback may be used to get someone else in (Rodwell/Henderson) Owen will be gone at the end of the season. That leaves us with Rooney, Berbatov and Hernandez.

Now if looking at recent games it seems Fergie has finally realised that Berbatov just isn't useful for certain games and you can't have a 30 mil striker sat on the bench for half a season. So if everything happens as above it would leave us with Rooney and Hernandez.

Berbatov has looked lost and off form lately, this may be the time to try and recoup some of the money by shipping him off to Italy/Germany.

In this day and age you need 4 top quality strikers to compete and the likes of Diouf won't get a look in I don't think, I would like us to keep Welbeck but can see Fergie shipping him out tbh, Macheda has been shocking it Italy from what I've read so I can see him leaving.

The problem being that 20 goals a season machines like Shearer/Drogba etcare extremely hard to come by and come at a premium.

No joke I would have taken on A.Carroll and c.Adam in January and been pretty happy with that. Save Rooney from taking the corners and being used as an undersized battering ram.

You seriously would have spunked 35 million pound on Carroll?

Adam I can understand but Carroll??

I don't think Carroll or Adam are good enough for a top European side, imho of course.

Adam would have been alright as an extra midfielder though on the cheap.

We're crying out for someone who can take a decent set piece, we could have got him for 5 million I reckon.

Maybe as a back up for the first choice players, but certainly not first choice himself. I'd agree with that.

United need either a driving force or a very creative midfielder, Modric fits the bill nicely or Hamsik.

I'd like to see Fergie have a big clear out in the summer and really freshen up the team, he has money to spend apparently and could bring in some funds selling dead wood.

Out of interest, who would you like to see come in across the board / the starting eleven be and back ups next season? *

*Realistically

Fergie has confirmed this week that both Welbeck and Macheda will both be at Old Trafford next season so I fully expect us to have at least have Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck next season with Macheda maybe being sent out on loan again

Regarding Berbatov contract talks are due very soon with him not having long left on his current deal so I guess he could be sold but tbh even if that happens I expect us to line up in a 4-3-3 next season meaning we'll only be playing with Rooney anyway
