Young was announced at 14:00 and Jones at 15:00. Jones had the medical a week before the deal was announced though there was all that speculation about the deal being dodgy which may of held it up. Young had his medical the day before the deal was announced apparently.
Reportedly it's as little as £5m up front with the rest depending on his development.

Barcelona rarely pay the actual value of a player. Pretty much everyone wants to play for barcelona and couldn't care less how much their current club loses by them going to barca instead of other clubs.
I can't help but get the feeling that when the sell their youth players they are always confident that they will come home to the nou camp if they develop into a world class talent.
Look at what they are doing with Fabregas. They are offering well below his value because they know that he only wants to move to them and they feel that they should retrieve one of their "lost boys".

I think in the Neymar case its santos holding out for city or real mega bucks. Barca target has to be cesc and a stricker, i don't see a flashy brazilian doing wonders for the barca dressing room.

They think they have a right to price him at what THEY think he's worth, purely because he used to be a youth player. Well unfortunately for them he's under contract until 2015, he's one of, if not the best young midfielder for the past 3 or 4 years and if they value that at less than 30 million then they can go and do one. They paid like £35,000,000 for that wolfman defender who they sold a season later, Cesc is worth less than that? Don't think so.

TBF to Barca can you imagine how gutting it must be to have to buy back what was once your player at god knows how much over what got for him in the first place (that is under the assumption that Arsenal did even have to pay some kind of compensation fee)

I couldn't agree more. Last season was very frustrating to say the least. I was bitterly disappointed not to an incoming striker in the last window and to find RK still at the club (albeit on loan).. That said, I think most decent strikers would have struggled in the side. As good as a player vdv is, I believe he's that detrimental to the forwards. I'm still a great believer in two instinctive goal scorers up front but hey, I still have my Fish on Fridays.
Biggest mistake Harry made was letting Bent go..

Well given the main reason of his move from Sunderland to Villa was that the likes of Young and Downing we there you may well have a chance to buy him back in the not too distant future
