wasnt he out of action for 6 months or something stupid?

he scored some big goals against utd and liverpool last year

Year before he did his knee iirc and on recovery his hamstring iirc. For the money I think we got a good deal as he signed a 5 year deal last august on 70k and he wasn't getting better.

I will miss the guy though.

Always rated Arteta as a player but would have liked to get him a couple of years ago, he seems to have gone off the boil a bit of late. I can think of worse players we could have bought.

As for Benayoun, he really impressed me at WHU and I think with Nasri going he could prove a useful aquisition.

Although I'm pleased to see Bendtner going out on loan I do wonder if it leaves us a bit light on strikers, basically we've got the injury prone RvP and untested Park... Chamakh will go to the ACoN and Vela/Bendtner/Campbell are all out on loan. I suppose we could see Walcott deployed through the middle a bit more.

Mertesacker, just what we needed.

All in all a good day although we STILL haven't replaced Flamini, really annoying when you see Reo-Coker on a free, Scott Parker £5m etc and we aren't going involved, just relying on Frimpong and Song who will be going to ACoN

Don't expect any inspirational performances from Benayoun. In 3 seasons he was with Liverpool, you wouldn't have known he was around for 2 and a half of them.

And never really hit any sort of form, on and off depending how the team played.

Oh well, bit of a bitter end to the window but not really the largest loss in the world. Now to avoid football till internationals are over.

Yeah really enjoyed Raul having to get Gerrard how to show him not to pussy out of a tackle at OT, which by the way he still shouldn't have been sent off for or that ridiculous dive from berbatov.

LOL you've still got serious butt hurt over that haven't you. You're a bit like Baz but he's still whining about Rafael not being sent off for a challenge that didn't even warrant a free kick :o

Yeah was is pretty past tense, he was for a few matches at the start of Kenny's reign, was pretty poor before that and a bit of a luxury to have in midfield. Also not all of his goals really won games anyways.

In case you've forgot pre Dalglish Liverpool on the whole were poor, regardless of that he scored 5 in 6 and whether or not they were winning goals or not is irrelevant, when Liverpool started playing well it's no coincidence it happened when Meireles started playing well also.

Completely different player to Adam, one can play center midfield and not get caught of position constantly and pull out of tackles like a pussy. Again Henderson has years ahead of him and much more potential and looked very good against Bolton, infact 6 of our shots came directly or indirectly from him and his creativity. Raul didn't do much until January was it?

And while Adam may not pull out of tackles he will waste possession constantly trying to play hollywood passes left right and centre. Adam and Henderson had good games at home against a poor Bolton side. They both on the other hand had utter turd games away to Arsenal against an average Arsenal side. You're right Meireles is a different type of player to Adam and Henderson, he's different because he's better than both.

And you can say he got us over the line if you wish, could argue any fresh set of legs against a 10man, second string arsenal side would have got us over the line.

You could argue that, you'd be wrong but that's your prerogative.

I was pretty supprised Arteta went didnt think that would come off he was on football focus on Saturday saying he didnt have any plans to leave!

And that's the problem, together. Why would the Russian put in money when he wasn't able to gain control of the club? He might as well sit on his 30% and let the majority shareholder pump money in until he can pick the club up himself of if by some miracle the club value rockets sell his remaining shares off for profit.

They should have let the Russian gain control, but isn't it dein that sold his shares to the yank?

Dein introduced Stan Kroenke to the club, but Dein sold his shares to Red and White holdings, or better known as Usmanov. He's a murdering rapist, so I'd rather he wasn't in charge of my football club. He's a Man Utd fan too.

How good is Tim Cahill compared to Arteta?

I'v alwasy rated Cahill, and still cant belive a bigger side hasnt taken him.

Cahill would have been a better buy for them. Puts himself about more, always in the thick of it and gets on the end of just about everything. These days he's of far more use creatively than arteta as well. Far more versatile as as well.

Supposedly all Korean have to do national service. So we could lose him in two years I think, unless he gets excused.

He expects to leave in 2.5 years, hence the cheap fee. If he sets the wold on fire, or they get a medal at the Olympics (should he be picked) it can be excused. He can become a Policeman instead of joining the army for just a year

You're a bit like Baz but he's still whining about Rafael not being sent off for a challenge that didn't even warrant a free kick :o.

Resorting to making things up again Tom? Is it because I brought up your incredibly stupid posts about Young? :p

Where did I say Rafael should have been sent off for the challenge on Meireles at OT? Are you getting it confused with the disgraceful challenge he made at Anfield, which iinm you claimed wasn't 2 footed or off the ground?

Blackburn have signed the Striker Jordan Slew from Sheff Utd for £1m.

Gutted. :( He's daft though! He won't get any games with them for atleast 2 years! Should have stayed with Sheff Utd for another season.
