*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Deloading? What is this? Will it mean I can go the gym? :p

Thing is, he hasn't specifically said anything about time off, but then I haven't asked really :(

It's from other people and forums, and in Flex magazine they mentioned about the importance of time off every 8-10 weeks but didn't mention why

A new PB in the C+J and very close to one in the snatch :)

C+J = 70kg - definately more in here.
Snatch = Fail at 40 - Still need to work on the balance when A2G. Did several at 30 with no issue, the 40 was just a have a go moment and it was just balance that cost me. I'll get it on Thursday.

The Goals have been set for 2011
CJ - 100kg (Thinking too light so might up it)
Snatch - BW

I want to build my platform next week sometime but right now trying to get a decent bar delivered to NI without silly postage costs is making me sad :(

This will cheer you up then :D.

Morba's sons first deadlift, no chalk, straps or belt. :(

That is awesome! He's already got some dumbbells (womens 2kg blue ones!) and always wants to do 'strongman' stuff in garden hehe

I'm after some advice. I have this Protein Powder, about 2.2kg of it left. I'm going to take a shake with me for after workouts as I have a fair amount of time between getting out of the gym and eating food.

Should I buy different powder, how much difference will it make? I'm going to put bananas and strawberries in my shakes too, maybe I'll try oats sometime. I've never eaten oats in my life.

I've always eaten junk foods, literally. Sausage, chips and beans for almost every meal. Otherwise, a cheese sandwhich, crisps, chocolate, other junk. Only processed meat (sausages, chicken nuggets, fishfingers, burgers). Will be interesting to try other foods to say the least!

I now know that I like apples, bananas, chicken, grapes, a couple of vegetarian soups. That's pretty much as far as I've got:D I used to like eggs when I was younger, they're next on my list! I love beefburgers, I'm guessing I'll like steak too based on that.

Now, what else can I try? I've thought of trying eggs, steak, cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts, a couple of fruits, any more suggestions? Must be things that are easyand quick to cook or prepare. Foods that I can have on-the-go are ideal:)

*edit* I forgot to ask what I wanted to know in the first place. What foods should I be eating? I'm trying to bulk up without gaining too much fat. I'm 5"9 tall and weigh around 10.5st I think. Pic here. And how much should I be eating? I've read 1gram of protein for every ib I weigh, which puts it at around 150 I guess.

If I'm eating 5-6 meals a day, what should be a typical day for me? I.E what should I be eating and how much? If you could, I'd either like to have a single set diet that I adhere to every day, or say 1-3 options per meal. Keeping things structured will ensure that I stick to my routine/diet :)

What a freak!

I'm getting serious withdrawals from my current gym. I really want to go back to the old power lifting gym. Seeing the likes of Zack Khan, Dave Titterton and all these 15st+ guys. It really pushed me. All I see where I train are little girls who enjoy curling.

Hmmm, I feel seriously motivated to break some records.

fix your diet before buying protein powder.

also steak is nothing like burgers, its like bacon and pork sausages, 2 completely different types of meat from the same animal.

eating properly isn't rocket science, if you can't tell whats healthy or not by looking at the nutritional value or the way it's been cooked then you better get reading.

nobody should make a plan up for you, because that plan isnt designed for your personal taste, so it will never work. you know what junk food is, so cut it out. you should also maybe try googling, this question has been asked over 100 million times on the internet.

also trying to eat the exact same thing every day will not work, especially with all the crap your used to eating. eat what you like everyday so long as its healthy.

Argh, I know I was singing their praises a few days ago but I think I've gone off Dips :p Got MAJOR doms in the top of my pecs/bottom of my shoulders, which I can only attribute to the fact I did Dips on Thursday (leaning forward for chest) and Saturday (normal) last week, and because I've not done them before it's caining my muscles!

Legs and Shoulders today, interesting to see how shoulders go :p

Rest week is next week, so going to be hitting the gym HARD this week to compensate!!

Should i maintain the same caloric intake if im not working out? Only concern is I won't be burning anything as i normally would be down the gym, and could do without any more blubber around the old belly!

I'd keep protein and fats as they are and lower your carbs as you wont be expending as much energy but your body will still be growing.

Ooh yeah thanks for reminding me mate! Will jot it in to iFitness at lunch time! Going for a swim afterwards, I fear I may drown.........!

I'd be careful, stay near the side as you might cramp up! I couldn't think of a more leathal combo, legs + shoulders and then a swim! Suicide right there!

Normally I'd keep things the same as this is when you'll be growing still. Though as tome_e mentioned dropping carbs slightly should help to minimise any fat gat. That or just do some incline walks on the treadmil 2/3 times.

Just made lots of cookies... and ate too many... :o They're not even protein cookies! lol! :D Still, hand made and worth it! :D

Ah well, it's sunday! You can let yourself go on the weekend! ;)

On saturday had a double mcmuffin thing from maccy d's, a korma, and spag bol, it was awesome eating something with some real flavor, although my bowels didn't enjoy it so much! haha
