then why arent your lifts increasing? If you start at 60kg squat and add 2.5kg per week in a year you are squatting 185kg with 2 weeks off. Whilst i accept that is somewhat unlikely in a year you are nowhere near this. i dont think you put your weights up every session i think you put random amounts on the bar you know you can do.

Not even sure how you can say that. Believe what you want to really, there is no point arguing against it :)

I've struggled with squats this last year due to my issues, I broke the 100kg barrier and managed 110kg which I'm personally proud of.

I have videos showing my RM increases, and they show progression.

I don't think anyone can deny that mate and congrats for it!
However, what UE is trying to say is that you should continue to push hard as there is plenty left in the tank, slow and steady! :)

Thank you. I'm not just going to stop mate, I'm still pushing I've just hit a couple of issues with my squats (namely depth), I'm still nursing my back each day which I done in practically a year ago now.

But Delvis, I don't understand why you're still on 60kg working sets for squats? Your last leg sesh it's like you failed 80kg so you took 20 off as a punishment!?

Because its a deload? And for the last few weeks I've been doing 5x5x60kg to work on speed and depth. As well as doing a few heavy working sets prior.

Hmm... At what point should my bench start slowing down as a 'new' lifter?

Seems to still be progressing quite well, and should be doing 47.5 this week, possibly 50 at the end, can't quite remember right now.

Almost needed to Deload Ohp the other day at 30...

at about 80-100kg bodyweight dependant, everything below that is 'light' every lifter i know had gained quick from 35kgs or so to start up to repping around 75-80 thats where it slows and progression becomes a bit harder. Over 100kg it slows again.

Careful what you wish for chicken <3

Hey! I'm just lean and short :p

Ah, fair enough, sounds good. I'll be happy if I hit 75 for reps by the end of the year.

I've never been able to bench 60kg for reps without takings extremely generous rests, but then I've never really focussed too much on my diet.

I'm also naturally built like a stick.

Going for 55kg tomorrow on 5x5, but I'd be surprised if I did 60kg first go with strict rests.

Why aim so low? Aim higher! You're clearly not pushing yourself hard enough!

I'm following SL progress. In theory I think I'd hit 75 mid summer :D if I do, great, but I add 2.5 to every bench session presuming I hit the last one :) 75 is a relatively lax target.

Yeah. I'm not sure how I'll progress, but we shall see. I think I'm also stick built, but its hard to tell. Family aren't particularly stick, so it might just need some lifting, and my diet is pretty sorted, so should progress. When I was trying 1RM's the other day, 60 was a bit of a challenge, so I'd be surprised if I don't have to Deload before then (sl deload not like a deload week) but it would be quite cool if I can just keep progressing to that. If I do have to Deload though I'll probably then do some speed work at that point.

I think I should probably start a blog on here purely to spur each other on with friendly competition, we're both about the same level of strength!

I'm failing sets at 37.5kg overhead press FYI (well, failed it third set in on my first attempt at that weight). Will probably progress to 40kg this week though.

I think I've gone off 1 rep maxs for life after ruining my back squatting 100kg :D

Interesting one at the gym today.

Was absolutely shattered!

Anyway started on DL. Did all my sets up to 100. My mate says try 150. And I wasn't feeling like I could, even though 130 was my current best. But I tried it anyway. Double overhand grip, inches off the floor, but my grip just goes. Fair enough. I've never tried mixed grip but I tried it anyway and it came up (what felt like) so easy. I asked my friends to watch my form, and while they said it wasn't as good as when doing easier weights, I didn't arch my lower back, my knees weren't going anywhere they shouldn't and I that my form looked fine. So I'm so chuffed right now!

However, I want to know, is mixed grip something I should avoid? I will only use it on heavier weights.

I think you're slightly ahead of me, but it wouldn't stop me chasing you :p 32.5 is a bit of a pain right now for me I think xD

Mind you, because of squat, and therefore, bss, and gob squats, I'm not sure how much damage my legs are taking, although the bss are still hard I guess and it takes a hell of a lot out of me. So must be working xD but it makes the stuff that comes after harder xD

Chasing you would certainly be good fun though :)
