*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

4000 calories a day and you're only on 350g of carbs?! WOT?!

Are you eating an excessive amount of protein or something?

Yesterday; little skew to above but that's a typical day.

3533 Calories
107.4g of Fat
255.3g of Protein
406.8g of Carbs

Abs are almost gone :(

That's more like it. Although I'd say given your size at the moment, 255g of protein is a little excessive. Lower it to 210-220 and use those extra calories for carbs

Carb coma  I am getting bored already, this concept of carbs is like a whole new experience.

What the ****?!

Klokov is just a joke, so strong :(

He will make an interesting strongman/powerlifter when he retires from Olympic lifting (he might make the cut for the next Olympics, assuming he doesn't get "injured" again... ;) :D).

Practically speaking, Misha is stronger in power/Oly lifting, Akkaev is the better Olympic lifter, and Lapikov will have finished his ban by now.

So where will Klokov fit? He's more entertaining to watch, sure, but from a practical perspective, there are two very, very good lifters in his category...

I have been a bit of a lurker of this part of the forum for the last year and a half, since I started going to the gym properly. Luckily there is a pretty well-kitted out gym at the school I work at so was able to start off at my own pace and settle in without the thought of wasting money.

Anyways, onto the here and now and I had a bit of a breakthrough last Tuesday where I managed the 40KG dumbbell bench-press. I have been working up to this point for quite a while, sticking with the 35KG for a good length of time but with there being no 37.5KG weights, it was a bit of a big jump to go straight to the 40s.

With that in mind I moved over to the barbell which allowed me to load up 75KG of weight, including the bar which I have been working on for the last 2 months or so. I was able to move up to 3x10 on that so last week I thought 'what the hell' and gave the 40s a go with a spotter just in case I ran into difficulty.

To say I was pleased would be an understatement, just need to keep going with it as I really do enjoy spending a couple of hours after work in there, however I feel now I need to start doing some cutting to bring my BF level down.

Over the last 2 weeks I have been trying the 16/8 fasting split and it seems pretty doable so will stick with that for the time being whilst making sure I'm continuing to eat relatively well.

tl;dr - I can now do 40KG dumbbell presses :)

Klokov doing his version of push/pull lol
In before everyone starts trying these variants.

Klokov trolling the world.

wow, that is seriously impressive video, need to try this (with lighter weight :( )

Leg's are getting hit twice a week now. A separate quad / hamstring day session.

Yesterdays session - I am in serious pain :(

Surely there is benefit to having a bit more load on the squats?!

Welcome! Well done on the milestone, now you just need train your legs and back... ;)

I'm going to be stepping things up tonight.

Attempting two new Pb's. 55kg on the bench and 37.5kg on the OHP....

Well at least 1 set at those weights and then problably back down to my previous values 52.5kg bench and 35kg OHP.

Thanks very much. I'm managing 40KG dumbbell Bulgarian squats and the same with deads, unfortunately that's the heaviest I can go with the equipment I have at my disposal :)

Surely you can deadlift more, given that you have a bar for benching 75kg?

Anyway, keep it up!

Unfortunately the total weight we have including the bar is 75KG so that is the limit, unless the PE Dept decide to buy some more which is unlikely considering it has taken 2-3 years to get the stuff they have now :(

Excellent. Well done, keep it up and keep gaining. Cutting already though? Nah! Get slamming that weight on that bar :p

Time you started a log perhaps?

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=145

I've only just started doing 3 times per week (Tuesday/Thursday/Friday) and so I'm hoping having the extra day dedicated to a certain area will help, nothing like walking down the stairs after a good leg session.

I noticed the log section and was tempted to put some of my training in there as I do have everything noted down from when I started :)

Holy crap the difference between 70KG and 72.5KG OHP felt massive today!

Felt really easy, increase weight, fail after 4 reps. WTF
