*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Happy birthday Stoodle!
I finished Total Recall the other week and it's a really good book, I never knew quite how business minded and successful Arnie was and would have been even without the BBing and films.

Yeah, was thinking to myself this morning how there's always strong trends in these forums.

  • ice debunks the upright row as a poor exercise, upright rows now scorned at any mention
  • Training barefoot/vibrams is now the base
  • Wendler is the only program to use if you want to make strength gains
  • Carb Back Loading should be done by everyone, irrespective of how you live your day-to-day life
  • Everyone's gym except for mine has people curling in the squat rack

*This post is tongue in cheek and should not be seen as a sleight on people's training techniques or regimes

What? It's a good exercise, hit's my lateral delts hard.

I've never seen anyone curling in either of my gyms squat racks either...

Although I did see a guy on the leg press the other day pressing the whole stack, with a belt on, whilst using both arms on his knees for assistance all while shouting and grunting a lot... It really was something to behold.

It's a bad position for the shoulder to be in. Many a torn/injured shoulder from upright bros.

I've never had problems with them, i use an E-Z bar and use a shoulder width grip as stated by exrx.net and i get no shoulder pains or anything negative except DOMS which are a positive.

I'm just saying, only takes one time for you to check into snap city.

If you want to hit the side delts then I like strict db lateral raises and cable raises.

27 today :( goodnight sweet test levels

Pretty much have to start TRT now :(
Ah, so that's why Pulse doesn't do anything for you.
I thought test was already getting lower at 25? 27... must mean there is no other option then.;)

Happy birthday mate, anabolic feast & cake required today!

Arnie. What a guy!

I have a question to the CBL guys. So, I started the prep phase yesterday... Good god, this is hard work!!! Battling the morning hunger is so hard after conditioning yourself over years of having regular breakfasts day after day... Lots and lots of tea seems to be helping?! I've never really gave coffee a shot but I have bought a jar and will see what happens!?

Anyway, I digress.. I'd like to shorten the prep phase with some HIIT. I was thinking of doing some fartlek training. Do you think 3 x sessions made up of 5 x 30 second sprints with 2-4 minute walks in between will be enough to accelerate me through the prep stage?

I did 2 days of low carbs until the evening, then i did full prep in 6 days (one of which included a few drinks on new years eve). I did 3 heavy training sessions and at the end of each i did Hiit for 10 mins. I was able to track my transition through the prep phase quite easily.
If you do your HiiT seperatly then you will defo have no problems at all speeding up the prep.

Upright rows in a smith are rife at Kiss

Delvis gone full Delvis again! you cannot upright row in a smith machine, unless your hanging upside down from the top of the frame. Its a press otherwise

u mad bro?

Stand behind bar mid-thigh height. Grasp bar with shoulder width or slightly narrower overhand grip. Disengage bar by rotating bar back and stand upright. Pull bar to neck with elbows leading. Allow wrists to flex as bar rises. Lower and repeat.
