The Acer ONE Thread

I have one on pre-order, for what I can tell there is a spare memory slot to expand the ram, so shouldnt be need for taking apart surely.
Could you post a link to where you found this information? Would be interesting to see as it contradicts what I have seen in recent pictures of the Acer Aspire One being completely disassembled.

Hope you guys post back and let us know how you find the systems.
I am sure I will come back here and write up some initial thoughts when they come in to the store I work for.

I've got a white one on pre-order, but that's for £199.99 - if they increase that, I'll cancel.

that shops policy is that the price you pre-order it at is the price you pay, unless it falls, in which case you pay the lower price :)

Aye if it's the place I preordered that is indeed their policy. Shouldn't have to worry about a price hike :)

I preordered Unreal Tournament 3 for £7.99, 3 or 4 years before it was released... it went up to about £30 at the time of release in certain stores... bargin :D

Have you had a play with the MSI wind / advent mini notebook and if so could post your thoughts how you compare them when you get a chance to play with them

Just pre-ordered - Acer Aspire One A150L / Atom N270 1.6GHz / 1GB / 120GB / 8.9" / Linux / NetBook / White = £249.99 inc

Nice deal you got there! Personally I would not use an HDD but hey, I am sure you have your reasons. I just like the durability and acoustic aspect of solid state drives.

It would be interesting to see how the HDD is attached inside there. Are you comfortable with (if its just a panel) opening it up, taking a couple of pics and posting them up here?

Good deal, same place I got mine by the looks of things.

Even for the huge space difference, I'm personally the same as bluetech. Generally swayed for the SSD model due to less noise, better durability, better portability and less heat. Not to mention the boot speed of a device this size and portable!

I love the idea of having a small portable netbook that I can pop onto my desk at work, or on my lap in a meeting - turn it on and BOOM instantly get to the programs/data I need :)

Battery: 2200mAh 3-cell battery (3 hours life); 2600mAh 6-cell (7 hours life) - figures derived from NAND Flash editions.
Seems there are 2600mAh batteries available for the SSD models, I might have to see if I can pick one up somewhere.

3 hours isn't that long really, but we'll see.

I've potentially found a partner of Acer that say they'll have 5200mAh 6-cell batteries for the Acer Aspire One available in black or white.

At £80's though, I'm kinda wondering if it's worth that amount of cash :(
