********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Well that's disappointing, a 8GB 4 is £429 and then 16GB 4S is £499. I think I might get the 16 since its such a small amount and pair it with a 'The One Plan' from 3. That way if the 5 comes out next year I sell it if the 5 is worth it.

Well I've had a 3G from launch.

Didn't think the 3GS was a big enough step up so I skipped it.

Was concerned by the antenna issue with the 4 so I skipped it.

This might just the be version where I cave in.

My 3G really struggles with some apps (like TomTom) and is generally sluggish doing the usual tasks like browsing Safari.

This version seems to fix the antenna issue and comes with spec bumps so it seems like a good upgrade. I also really like the size of the iP4, my colleague has a Galaxy S II and I think it's too big.

Siri does nothing for me mind.

I would only be interested if you could change the Siri voice to Microsoft Sam!

Other than that really not impressed at all. As people have said the power of the hardware is really starting to out run the capability of the software and but there are certain aspects of phone hardware which can be complete game changes *cough* battery life */cough* but nothing is being shown right now.

They said in the presentation that call time was improved over the iPhone 4, ie: better battery life?

Talk time on 3G is an improvement, everything else is the same or even worse actually. That's not so good.

Exactly, i have been telling people this in the other old thread and i was being called stupid. Just look who was right all along.

Your manner is why you were called stupid, nobody was debating your points (mostly), just the idiotic way that you put them across.

Anyone know if Siri can be implemented into other non-Apple apps? Be great to set a destination by voice while driving etc...

Also I assume that Google Maps still wont have turn-by-turn implemented?

ps3ud0

You can already on the SG2, not to the degree that Siri does though, also maps are still not turn by turn. Engadget have a comparison of the 4S and other smartphones, http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/iphone-4s-vs-the-smartphone-elite-galaxy-s-ii-bionic-and-tita/

Orange biggest rip off of the century????

Ok so i called Orange and asked them to send me a micro sim, "no problem" the lady replied, "that will be an extra £10 per month on top of your existing £35"

How can this be correct? I am not asking them to subsidise the phone i'll buy that out right. I asked why i would have to pay more per month as she said it was because you will be moved to there iPhone servers.

I said that i would just cut up my sim card then and she said i would still end up being charged an extra £10 as this system would know that my sim was in an iPhone i explained that i had never seen that reported on line before to which she explained the online community was not in the know!!!

Any ideas how to get around this??

Siri just isn't that interesting, it has limited applications due to environment. Who wants to be on a bus and start talking to your phone.
Its fine if your on your own in private location, but that's a very small part of our day to day life unless your a jobless recluse which at this phones price seems unlike to be its target buyer.
Its feature that I think isn't a core one for day to day use constantly.

That is BS as far as I know. Call and try speaking to someone else.

That is unless you don't have a data bundle, in which case they'll be looking to add one. I suspect you do though if you're paying £35/month.

I'm talking about the old days where I could just come in throw my phone on my desk, go to sleep wake up 8 hours later go out for the day, rinse and repeat for 3 days straight without having to even think about charging my phone.

The phone market is starting to become so competitive now, and nothing is standing out and making you say "wow". As people said if you've got an iPhone 4 there there is really no need. This doesn't change anything. (See what I did there. ;) )

Cut up the sim and ignore the lady.
Orange and Tmobile have some stupid new policy where they won't allow people to use iPhones on their network without one of their over priced contracts, hence refusing to simply send a micro sim.

As i said above, unfortunately it is Orange and Tmobiles stance now.
