********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

I have been running it today more like normal, All that has been disabled is the time zone location services.

Exchange email constantly pushing, received the normal 50-60 emails.
Only spent an hour on calls though, as I have been in meetings most of the day.

51%
Usage 6hrs 20mins
Standby 12hrs 10 mins

So I'm happy enough.

That wasn't the question though :p

Have you disabled time zone location services?

I do yes.

Solus, there are other location services. Scroll right down to the bottom 'system services'

These are OFF on mine

Lacation bases iads
Setting Time zone
Traffic

These are ON

Compass calibration
Diagnostics and usage
mobile network search

Can they be turned off, im not even sure what they are for apart from compass calibration.

What is it apple are constantly pushing?

Is it possible to block/disable ports anywhere in IOS?

Yes, I have the system services of too, every single one, including the time zone one.

And yes, it is the push apple URL you linked which is the cause.

I am now on 6% battery since I stated 11% in my other post

I do wonder if people's expectations battery life wise are too high

my Iphone 4 - gets me through the day - with decent amount of usage - thats all I ask/require

currently sitting on: (with mix of 3G web browsing, emails, many phone calls, emails, listening to podcasts, watching videos etc)

Battery remaining: 16%
Usage: 6 hrs 29
Standby: 12 hrs 15

I personally think thats quite good - and definately good enough

Internet speed

Hi guys,

I've had my 4s since launch day and I've been having a problem with web browsing. I live in a non-3g area and the speed at which my handset loads basic pages/apps pretty much makes it unusable for that purpose :(

On wifi its fine, but on gprs it's awful! Is that normal? Google/bbc etc take about 3 minutes to load and manually checking my webmail the other day took nearly 10 mins! I'll slowly start to miss my blackberry at this rate...

Any ideas? Are there any settings I may have changed by accident etc?

Settings > Store > click on your email address > sign out. = No more push.apple.com:5223 :D

Not on my phone it doesn't :( With Store signed out:

Persistent connection over 3G, considering it's open in WAIT mode, but not transmitting for 5 minutes, it's either oddly written or so hanged, that it doesn't even register the wifi is on to switch transmission.

It might be my paranoia kicking in, and I don't have in depth enough knowledge of IOS and process accounting but every single time I open graphical ps thing it shows MobileMail running, even though everything is force closed.

I have exactly the same, unless I turn the mobile data off, if I connect to wifi it still uses the mobile network, always listed under 'carrier' even though everything else moves to wifi.

Pointless obsessing over exact usage figures tbh.

If you can get 7-8hrs of usage and 24hrs+ of standby then I'd say the battery is working as expected. Obviously, 2-3% drops in battery with no use is a problem.. but don't get worked up over this.

I have everything except Bluetooth turned on all day. I get anything between 15 and 20 hours on standby with plenty of actual usage, and for me that is enough. I just leave it to charge overnight.

Unless your iPhone is obviously faulty, then I wouldn't waste time worrying about battery life and changing this and that to extend it. I think people should just enjoy the phone!

May as well rename this thread to the 'Post your iPhone 4 daily usage screens'. I want to talk about the other fantastic features of this phone instead of seeing screenshots after screenshots.

Well.. there cannot be that many of us with faulty iphones, surely. It doesn't affect you that's nice, Borat's "yak sie mash" thumbs up to you - but, as you can see there is definitely enough people affected for it to be a bit of an issue. Not just here - it's discussed on just about every iphone forums I know of.

Some of us are trying to puzzle together what might be causing it. But since you "want to talk about the other fantastic features of this phone instead of seeing screenshots after screenshots" we will of course stop.

So, what "fantastic features" do you want to talk about? (puts Dolph Lundgren voice on, squints eyes) Buddy...

Yeh, you are probably correct but this cant be right can it?

Midnight - 7am - 100% battery down to 98%
Midnight - 7am - 35% down to 22%

Does battery drain [a lot] faster when its lower?

Also, i know theres no point in worrying but as many say, if they have no usage with push set to off, there should be constrant connections to apple.push should there.

I am also logged out of itunes account now and still get the same thing
