********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Really can't understand what some people were expecting, whether it was a 4S or even a 5.

Personally, I can't really find fault with the physicality of the device. It feels of a high quality and it's shape and size is pretty good in the hand too. A slightly bigger screen is maybe the only real thing I could sympathise with, for those who were expecting it.

I've had a 3GS since it came out and skipped the 4 but I think the 4S is a good one to plump for. In reality and to echo previous thoughts, I don't think the jump from 4S to 5 is now going to be 'that' significant but I guess time will tell.

I have a Galaxy S2 currently, and I have to say that it's probably the worst phone I've ever had.

It seemed lovely to start with - it's fast, there is no doubt of that - especially compared to my old Desire, but it's just utter crap. It struggles to hold a data connection, reception is terrible, battery is degrading at an alarming rate, their own keyboard sucks and they don't allow me to update Swype because Samsung bodged it in as standard rather than having it installed properly, the vibration motor resonates with just a tap of the phone, the camera randomly dims images (although, in it's defence - macro performance is amazing!), the screen is the first I've managed to scratch in the last three or four years and that's just the start of it and before you get on to the physical build quality....

Needless to say, I'll be upgrading to a phone that works - a 4S.

sounds like u dont know how to use it... so a fisherprice phone would be better for u.

seriously upgrade the firmware!

What are people actually buying then? A faster phone than a iphone 4? a lifestyle?

They are buying into BS....Its dated tech that offers nothing over current GEN phones.

Tech doesn't work this way....If its not faster lighter or smarter then why buy it other than for the brand?

You must have been listening to a different lot of feeds to me then because I heard about a new device, completely redesigned internally with a new faster CPU, better graphics, improved camera, better battery life and the ability to run all the features of the new OS.

All an improvement over the current existing device.

Oh dear, it looks the same. Funnily enough, I like the form factor and it'll fit into my TomTom cradle.

So it's a better device and it fits my current accessories.

And you're asking why I'm going to get one?

*walks away shaking head in amazement*

Did you post some of those things in the various help threads dotted around ocuk and/or other forums? Your connection problems are likely your network being rubbish or your area. As for the keyboard stuff, just update/install new ones off the Market.

Nobody else seemed to have any difficulty getting their S2 running how they like! Simples!

This is what amazes me

Not one of you apple fans has displayed disappointment for such a dull release.

You defend it to the death!

This is my point

What do you really want us to defend?

It was never going to be a quadcore...they aren't going to be out in a phone for 4 months + which is way out of Apple's plans

The screen is already fantastic

The graphics are already cutting edge

What do you actually want?

No, i'm not defending it at all. In fact, i'm disappointed too as i expected a iPhone 5. But kind of happy because it means i won't get the upgrade bug while i'm still under contract.

I think it's the fact you're expecting us to turn our backs on our chosen platform and give Apple the finger off the bat.

I was looking forward to an iphone 5 to drive the tech along.

It doesn't sadly.

Its already dead tech :p

You and most people in this thread are missing the point. 99% of buyers don't know or care about screen resolutions, processor architectures or GPUs. Debating technical details on a computer forum puts us in the 1% who do care.

Apple will never use bleeding-edge technology because it doesn't make commercial sense. They can use slower, cheaper parts and the 99% of buyers who don't care will buy the product anyway. Most of the people who do care about specs wouldn't buy Apple products in the first place, so Apple loses nothing and makes billions.

The Optimus 2X was the first dual-core phone on the market, you can't get much more innovative than that.
Terrible comparison. Try again.

When I asked where’s the innovation I meant with regards to Apples iPhone 4S, I know Android manufacturers innovate, you didn’t need to point that out :D

But I was talking with regards to actual performance.

Errrrrm I'd consider myself an Apple fan tbh and I'm a little disappointed with this release. Don't see the point in upgrading from the 4, and I get em all if I'm honest.

Doesn't matter though, not like it's the end of the world - I'll just be waiting for the 5 instead :)

you clearly have a faulty phone.

so because i want to buy a phone am classed as a fanboy were as if a slate it and have no intention of buying it am a troll, you can win either way.

and yes am buying it

each to their own...of course you win. If you can justify your purchase, for whatever reason...go, buy, enjoy.
I cannot justify getting an iPhone 4S. I've said why, people will disagree or agree.I'm happy. I'll debate till the cows come home, some will agree, some will disagree. Bought a Galaxy Tab today for £150 for the missus. Happy with my decision. I don't berate anyone for their decision, as that's fruitless, but I can argue about my opinion for ever.....and hopefully that's why these forums exist and still get people posting as you can have your say, if not just being arsey etc. and people may debate/quote/comment!
