********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

The issue, however, is that people are going to look at the 4S and not see any advantages to that over the 4, and more importantly for Apple, Android devices. It will sell, but I'm skeptical as to how it will sell against previous iPhone models. People will look at the 4 and not see an "inferior" phone. And to be honest, they have a point, it is pretty much the same thing, no matter how you swing it.

I see more reasons to upgrade to the 4s then i do to jump ship to some random Android phone which only offers a spec bump (which gives no benefit at all real world over current gen Android phones might i add, or the IP4 for that matter).

The Camera sensor should be far superior to that found in the IP4, significantly better high ISO performance is a god send. I mean, the IP4 (and the SGSII for that matter) already wipes the floor with the cheaper compact cameras, with great low light performance there becomes no reason for a non photography enthusiast to even carry a compact anywhere.

The video stabilisation is a feature which i've been crying for on phones for a while now, i honestly have no idea if its offered in the latest and greatest Android phones but my Desire HD (before it broke) sure as hell didn't.

This assistant stuff, while some people will see it as being too what .. geek? since when did people become afraid to speak into their phone anyway :p
If it works as it seems to work, its an amazing feature which ill find infinitely useful and save me so many hours usually spent shifting through google.

The internal spec got bumped enough to accommodate this tbh, because frankly, in real world the old spec was more then good enough.

Not one of you apple fans has displayed disappointment for such a dull release.

You defend it to the death!

This is my point

I didn't look at any rumours beforehand, I very rarely do these days as they tend to be rubbish.

I saw a product that will suit me, it'll suit my requirements.

I wasn't disappointed because I had no preconceptions. It's an upgrade to what I've currently got.

sounds like u dont know how to use it... so a fisherprice phone would be better for u.

seriously upgrade the firmware!

I've already tried latest stock, VillainRom, Modaco's, Cyanogen amongst others.

Did you post some of those things in the various help threads dotted around ocuk and/or other forums? Your connection problems are likely your network being rubbish or your area. As for the keyboard stuff, just update/install new ones off the Market.

Nobody else seemed to have any difficulty getting their S2 running how they like! Simples!

No, nor have I had any need to.

My connection problems which do not exist on my iPad sat next to me on the same network? No, they certainly are not the network I'm afraid.

As for the keyboard - I like Swype, but Samsung won't let me have v3.

Dull by what standards? If you went into this keynote with an expectation that the new iPhone 5 was going to be a new design with the latest specs in every department then a) You don't really understand how Apple work and b) Yes, this update would be a disappointment to you.

For those of us who expected a bump to the internals, hence the possible arrival of a 4S instead of a 5, then it sort of is what it is. I'm not going to come in and slate things because it's sort of what I expected. By the same token, I'm not gonna proclaim it to be ground-breaking in comparison to the iPhone 4.

Genuine question coming up, do you form a broad opinion of Apple users by those in the store opening videos?

You must have been listening to a different lot of feeds to me then because I heard about a new device, completely redesigned internally with a new faster CPU, better graphics, improved camera, better battery life and the ability to run all the features of the new OS.

All an improvement over the current existing device.

Oh dear, it looks the same. Funnily enough, I like the form factor and it'll fit into my TomTom cradle.

So it's a better device and it fits my current accessories.

And you're asking why I'm going to get one?

*walks away shaking head in amazement*

BUT...BUT...BUT!!! DUUUUDDDEEE!!!! It's not the fastest phone on the market! How can you possibly not care about not being the fastest!? You MUST have the fastest!

I have an iphone 4, and it's not in my contract to upgrade at the moment so I wont. When I was signing my contract the Android phones weren't any better than the iPhones and had some paid for apps so went with another iPhone. Androids are now better / cheaper and i'm prepared to lose some paid games so due to my frustrations with iTunes and signals dropping out on the iPhone for holding it wrong i'll probably switch out.

I was expecting anything else. Apart from maybe a bigger screen. It was always going to be an a5 chip like in the iPad.
What is there to slate?
Defend it to the death? I don't think so. What I do do is argue with stupid comments of which there are plenty and that's from the people who saying it's pointless or the haters. And any thing in-between.

Sales figures will show otherwise.

Couldn't agree more. Find it hilarious how many naive people seem to think that Apple are going to be trounced by various Android handsets simply because their paper specs are better or they have bigger screens.

The iPhone 4 is still selling like hotcakes so there really was no incentive for Apple to introduce a radical upgrade. Makes far more sense to produce a moderately upgraded model, like they have, and keep the next big update for next year.

Obviously it's a tough call whether to upgrade for those who already have a 4 and many won't see it as worthwhile, but for anyone upgrading from a 3GS or older model or another brand of phone, it's still a damn good phone, better than the 4 and at the same price points - what's not to like?

I've already tried latest stock, VillainRom, Modaco's, Cyanogen amongst others.

*if* you have then your phone is faulty. It doesnt take 5 seconds to work that out. I have no vibration issues, no camera issues, the battery lasts 2 days and i have no connection issues.

Your's must be faulty.

As for the keyboard - I like Swype, but Samsung won't let me have v3.

If you've tried custom roms then you'd know it's available whether samsung use it or not.

This is it.

I've had two hot iPhone versions (3G and 3GS as they were released) and two hot Android phones (Desire and S2, both as they were released).

It doesn't matter how much hardware you chuck at Android - iOS is still the smoother, more refined solution - so much so, that to a point hardware specs are almost made irrelevant for most people!

Heaven forbid a phone should work well out of the box ;)

o2 gold account holder.
12month contracts.
3month early upgrade = 9 month contract.

Il be gtting one as I can be pretty sure I will be ableto get the latest addition when its released in say june next year :)

Similar position here, but silver not gold. Only problem being o2's contracts are so much worse/more expensive then the competition its hard to justify staying.

Dull as in not the great fanfare of the great hardware and mr. jobs. The new boy (his name escapes me) actually handed over to someone else. It's just not an Apple launch anymore, it's like everyone else, a bit like the phone...
Of course the videos show the worst or the best, depending on what side you're on. I don't really get why the hollering is done. I'm with easyrider though...dull launch, dull product, which will sell well

BS post

Maybe for PC hardware not for phones

You're influenced by the people you talk to. As a technically-minded person, you probably have plenty of technically-minded friends.

Non-geeks don't even know what a GPU or a processor architecture is, let alone why they'd need one sort rather than another.

I feel sorry for Feek, he's never going to be able to keep a lid on all of these trolls. :(

If you think the iPhone 4S sucks, good for you, now waddle off back the Mobiles forum and find something better to do.
