********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

+1. You can't sweeten the pill boys, it's a high end phone with specs no better than 6 months old models...
I'm sure me and easyrider agree it will sell, like we agree it's dull. You don't buy an Apple product for hardware, we also know that. But I also bet we agree that people will be disappointed because of the hardware specs, not all people but some. Likewise some will be disappointed because it looks the same....
Apple however is fighting a losing battle against Android currently, and this isn't going to be the massive boost that previous generations provided in my opinion...

I think we understand just perfectly, Apple are milking their customers for every penny they can.

If they can get away with just following their competitors and save money by not releasing bleeding edge hardware they will and I don't blame them, I blame the millions of Apple customers who helped them get into such a dominate position and still support them.

For the last time, very few people care about 'bleeding edge' hardware.

Why is that so hard for you to understand? Why would Apple rush pointless hardware to market just for the sake of pleasing a handful of benchmark whores that probably prefer Android anyway?

Answer: they wouldn't.

You really don't know what you're talking about. You're just repeatedly purchase-justifying because you're locked into a contract and nothing can be better than what you are stuck with! :(

I see it all the time.

I was looking at changing from my galaxy S2 and trying an iphone, could probably take the hit on no micro sd..just, but the smaller screen size is the killer for me. would have cracked at 4 inch :/

I spend enough time tinkering with my PC and home network (for fun, not necessity), I just want a phone to work as a phone and just that, hence I will not get an Android device.

People might call me an Apple fan boy - I am not, far from it and while I am somewhat displeased with the lack of a larger screen, the 4S is still a nice phone and I'll be getting it.

And before the Android lovers slate me, I've used it plenty and while I appreciate that it is good and the phones do have good hardware, the OS is no where near as polished or as user friendly as iOS, let's not even start on the unreleased iOS5.

The future of phones does not lie with the hardware spec but more the software that is used and for me, nothing beats iOS, especially if Jailbroken.

I don't really understand what is so unjust about a company making lots of money by producing products which lots of people are willing to pay premium prices for.

Nobody has ever been forced at gunpoint to buy an Apple product. What is wrong with the fact that many people really like their iPhones?

The shareholders of Samsung and HTC want exactly the same thing as the shareholders of Apple: money. Apple is just very good at producing products with mediocre tech specs which people want.

Not in the mobile phone market.

Hang on, let me get this right.

Are you saying that people who buy mobile phones are more tech savvy, ie they know what CPU/GPU their devices have?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha *breathe* hahahahahahahahahahaha

If you ask the average man in the street what the CPU in his computer is, he'll probably glaze over and say "dunno, Intel inside?". Some might actually know, but most people won't.

Ask anyone what CPU their mobile phone has got and they'll look at you as though you're an idiot because the average Joe probably doesn't even realise his phone has a CPU, never mind a GPU in a smartphone.

As for screen resolutions.

"Hey, Mr. Average man in the street, what's the screen resolution of your [insert smartphone name here]?"

"Er, dunno, three inches".

It's a phone. 99% of the population don't care.

I have friends with iPhones who bought them and like them but they don't use them for anything other than calls and texts. They don't email because they don't care, it's a nice phone they can text from or use Facetime to talk to their kids. People who aren't techies just don't care.

yeah like the ip4... oh hang on ? the calls dropped!

A problem which was never as severe as the media/trolls made it out to be. It was a complete non issue for us, although that could be down to the fact the UK as a whole is pretty well covered signal wise compared to the US.

I have a Galaxy 2 for 12.50 per month for 18 months with 400 minutes unlimted texts and 500mb data

Feek/Robbo/Acid I do hear what your saying about faster this ,faster that, new voice recognition stuff. I love apple stuff , I like the design of my I mac and I love the smooth animations of switching screens on my IP4 and iPad 1.

But heres the but........ you both keep asking what else would you like spec wise/design wise?

My answer is Apple should be telling us what we want next , like the iPad they convinced a lot of people tablets were the way forward.

Apples designers/think tank could have thought of some unthought of ideas?

I basically had/have £500 ready to blow on a un needed upgrade but for the first time in a long time I just don't feel the need.

Not saying I'm correct but would like to hear your thoughts and to be honest try and convince me to be happy with apples latest offering:confused:

For the very last time, we're on a forum frequented by geeks, of course WE care about hardware specs...and it's not bleeding edge is it? That's our point it's a good 6 months behind! And Apple push how good the hardware is etc. with their speeded up ads. I don't deny that IOS is good...I don't deny as a package the iPhone 4S is good...it's just not good enough to excite me to lock myself into a long contract for...

You don't buy an Apple product for hardware

No, you're sort of right. We buy an Apple product for the seamless integration between their whole line of products which you clearly have not experienced thus commenting in a negative manner.

I have an iPhone because it fits right into my digital life seamlessly and effortlessly. I'd rather spend my time doing other things than tailoring the GUI of my phone or fiddling around with stupid settings that have no importance whatsoever.

Mohinder. Where art thou?
