********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

You know, earlier tonight I was full of disappointment, but I've been watching those vids of Apple's website and I'm coming around to the 4S, and I honestly don't know why. Maybe it's because the geek in me loves Siri, I don't know  I just wish it had a larger screen :(

I'll wait and see what the Nexus Prime brings.

I'll be buying one just because I can't stand the terrible reception I get with the 3GS model. Was going to buy the 64GB model SIM free but I'm not so sure now. It's a disappointing upgrade after 16 months.

As for pricing, if it follows the iPod touch/iPad it'll be: £499, £579, £659.

Problem as I see it is that on this forum the majority of people are tinkerers.

That is to say they buy to be able to tweak to what they exactly want.

Apple is essentially (on the iPhone especially) the complete opposite to this.

Hence, arguments ensue.

I personally have a iPhone because it does exactly what I want from it. I used to have it jailbroken, and now I don't.

It's quite possible that you can get technically superior phones than the 4/4S. However when you combine hardware + software you get an experience better than that of an OS that is smattered over a number of different devices.

The iPhone provides exactly what I want from a phone, Android, does not.

I think we should all agree that it is down to personal opinion and that if someone chooses to buy a £700 iPhone 4S 64GB that is their choice.

tis an exmor r sensor, already in use (possibly slightly different) in experia phones?
nowt new really, as said above...
Samsung use backlit sensors now, their next is rumoured to be 16mp, backlit and with fantastic low light performance...

There's still the glass quality, aperture (i don't know the min aperture on Android handsets but the closer it gets to F1.8 the more cheerful i become :D ) and image processing engine .

We've been saying this since page 1, the Android users can't seem to comprehend it however.

As an ex iPhone 4/current gs2 user I am disappoint.

In the next few weeks google are bringing out an HD dual core phone. This iPhone has matched the gs2 only to leave itself exposed in a few weeks.

I was hoping for something killer but it has not emerged. The nexus prime
will be superior in hardware and flexible in software. It comes down to whether IOS is killer in itself or not. For me, and without flash or mkv support it is not.

Why on earth do you need MKV support on a phone?

What phone have you got at the moment?

What do you use your phone for mostly? I'll tell you if you'll like Android or not. :)

I'd like a bigger screen but i don't want a bigger form factor. I was having a go on a mates HTC (not sure which one, dual core, 4"+ screen) and i just found the width of the phone too big and i have pretty large hands.

Nokia N8? Again we can argue, like I said, they've done just enough, something Apple manage to do very well. Problem is I reckon they've aimed slightly too low this time...

I'll be interested in the UK Pricing.

I've more or less got a home for my iPhone 4, so I'll pick up either the 16 or the 32 iPhone 4S :)

Not the upgrade I was wanting, but a pretty good upgrade if I'm honest.

If you wanted to 'wow' someone with a phone, you'd need an iPhone to do it.

Nonsense mate, absolute nonsense. The 1080p video recordings on my S2 were enough to wow a few people, and even swype believe it or not now that I can actually use it quite fast.

Plus your comment about iTunes being a plus feature, it was one of the worst things about owning an iPhone imo.

From reading all your previous expectations in the other thread and being absolutely convinced they would 'definitely' release an iPhone 5 with a slightly bigger screen because I am sure you said yourself nothing else would make sense, you sure do seem to be trying hard to convince yourself this is a worthwhile upgrade from a 4. Is it because you know you are buying one regardless?

Hope this puts things into perspective.

90% of end users would not CARE any of that.

The other 10% that does? How many % of that 10% actually think hard about it, and how many % take into consideration of the OS too?

Most people just want an iPhone, because its cool. Because it is fashionable.

End of story.

The crap that is being argue in these parts represents (at a wild guess) LOW single digits % of the sales.

The Nokia N8 has the stand out best camera but it has a large sensor, mechanical shutter and xenon flash all in a bulge on the back of it as it wouldn't fit otherwise.

Other than the camera it's pretty poor.

On the phone screen, the 1080p on the Samsung and 720p on the iPhone 4 looks fairly similar. If not very much the same.

It's a plus feature for many people. Android offers nothing like it. It's huge.

I was really hoping for an iPhone 5 with a 4" screen and I'm disappointed there isn't one. I don't know if I'll get a 4S, I'm certainly not getting one immediately.

This is the same problem i suffer with, and i also have large hands (to the point where the 360 controller feels small, and the PS3 controller feels like its going to break), yet 4" + devices just don't feel comfortable to use/hold.

Currently have a 3GS. I use it for lots of web browsing mainly (apart from being a phone of course), hence why I want a bigger screen.

I have played with Android phones, and I do like the sense ui on HTC phones.

How does android OS work anyway? Is it like Windows where there can be X amount of varients in terms of specifications? Whereas with Mac OS X and iOS being built around a select few? Obviously that is going to streamline the performance of Apple hardware.

Plus people forget that even though the antenna is a bit dodgy on the iPhone 4 it really does feel like a well made bit of kit. Looking at the HTC phones for example, makes them look like a fisher price toy in comparison.

Maybe it's me assuming again but you make it sound like Apple always just do enough to get by. This isn't true but i'll await a response before reeling of a list of innovations Apple has brought to the table over the years.

That is true, you are holding either metal or glass. All very solid.

Pick up a Blackberry (plastic), actually, most other phones, you are touching plastic.

On budget phones the answer is it simply doesn't, although the situation may be better now the average spec level has increased.

Tried some budget Samsung models a while back (same time the Desire launched, so its the Galaxy Apollo i guess?) and my god it was a terrible experience.

I've never had a problem with iTunes or anything else in regards to my iPhone, I actually find the iPhone (I've owned since a 3) a utter joy to use in sync with my MacBook Pro and MobileMe account.

It's a massive plus, iTunes with it's music, app store and podcasts, MobileMe for contacts, email and calendars and iPhoto, no problems and an joy to use and makes the experience better.

I'll be getting the upgrade from my iPhone 4, not the upgrade I wanted, I wanted a bigger screen and a would have liked a slightly different look to the iPhone, but I'm not disappointed. I'm looking forward to the new Operating system a lot and coupled with the new 4S :) I'm happy.

I'll probably pick up a 16GB in all fairness as I don't sync much music to my iPhone and I keep everything organised and tidy, might leave enough spare cash for an iPad :)
