********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

yes i can, dont really need itunes or doubletwist for that tho.
... i can then iether stream it from my pc or load it onto my sdcard.

i not picking faults or saying whats the best format to go for.
for me, its just easier using android.
.. i know its not everyones cup of tea though, so ill leave this here.

Well no that isn't a same service at all is it.
Phones and especially tablets are media devices, a lack of iTunes/zune is a massive massive downside in the android Eco system.

Best thing about the new iPhone, plug existing iPhone into PC, sync it, sell, plug new one in, restore from backup, and I'm exactly where I left off with everything, minimal fuss. Now that is win IMO.

What a huge disappointment last night was, no iPhone 5 announced, no bigger screen or curved back plate. Another point "S" update, by the way, for those wondering the "S" stands for ****, Sucks, Stupid and (Un)surprising.

Having said that I am looking at getting on a contract but all the UK networks seem to have dumped their unlimited data plans, hopefully along with the 4S they will bring some better contracts back.

Maybe I'll look into SIM ONLY plans and keep my iPhone 4. Anyone else notice Apple's stock took a nose dive last night? Looks like June 2012 will be a better time when/if they release the i5.

In Apple's defence, it is a pretty smart strategy, release a "semi" updated model, it sells out even though it's not really worth the upgrade, wait 6 months and release a brand new model, it sells out because it's what people were expecting 6+ months ago, at least the iPad 2 had some significant updates.

As far as UK pricing goes, the US pricing was announced last night $199 for the 16GB, yet when it gets to the UK its £400+ how does that translate?

Finally, everyone keeps talking about Siri being a "4S only" app, well jailbreakers are already working on porting it to the i4, Apple is really smart in marketing stuff as only compatible with certain products. Just look at that HDMI adapter they released a few months ago for the iPad2 *Mirroring only available on the iPad2* thanks to a little research I found out all you needto do is change a setting in the i4, 3GS, and iPad 1 and it's possible on all 3 lol. Apple fail

lol are infact the same ARM a9 processor - however ebilcake and a few like him seems as tho they doesn't know shizz. No point trying to educate dim people.

The A5 has more power than ios knows what to do with it.

Main disappointment of the new IPHONE is the same old screen and design ( it just needed a nice little tweek for a bigger screen)

The previous screen lasted 3 generations, why would anyone think the retina will only last 1 is beyond me.

This is a good phone, to an existing ip4 user is less attractive but to a 3GS user is more attractive, their contract must be up now too.

WOW so much crazy in here :p

Before i start i just want to say take no notice of my SIG, i don't have an Android phone anymore (Same as no iPhone to)

Now, some crazy things ive seen after a quick read.

Apple Fan - "The 4S is faster so it's better"

None Apple fan - "Other phones are faster"

Apple Fan - "Yes, but it does not need to be that fast" (So why is the 4S a good thing?)

-------------------

Apple fan - "Ask people in the street whats in there phone, they dont know/care"

So...... If that is the case why would ANYONE buy the 4S. It looks the same as the IP4 so if "Joe public" does not care, why would he spend the extra money on a 4S? Would they not just get the same style IP4 for cheaper?

-------------------

I just dont see how the 4S is going to sell except for "Fan boys" buying it. In the other thread people was saying how the IP4 is plenty fast enough because of how well iOS is made, so why buy better specs?

Im probably not getting my point accross how i would like to, but im still half asleep.

You are partly right, I doubt any of the existing ip4 user who are still half way through their 24 months contract will upgrade.

The people who buy the iPhone 4s will predominantly be:

1 - 3GS (or older iPhone) users, with a bigger tech gap reason to and contract is up
2 - new customers to iPhone, they just want the best
3 - people who upgrade because they had to have the latest
4 - die hard apple fan who just buy the new release

Me? Nope, Dont see me needing any of the new features. I take photos for Facebook, the existing camera is fine, I seldom take videos and it in a case. I don't think I can tell the difference in day to day usage with a ip4s.

I still on iPad v1 too for the same reason.

Apple want the lead on the phone market and they probably will always have if they keep to their current marketing system.

As soon as you include all the latest speed processors, maximum memory and bigger screen etc etc then how do you launch your next model.

Apple always prepare for the 3rd refresh of every product that way they know they are going to sweep the market once again.

Give it a few months and there will be several models out there that are mini PCs compared to the iPhone with the latest and greatest but it still doesn't threaten the iPhone and thats the point. The market doesn't suffer its just people who are chasing technology. The iPhone 4s has enough new stuff in it to justify a change and the 5 when it comes can probably produce what you want today but didn't get.

Then it goes again and next year it won't have something but you'll still buy it and apple has you as a customer for life...

Fine by me as until a competitor produces something thats built as well and as pretty as the iPhone but can also match it with the UI then I'm a happy customer.

This. I see the 4S as a device that predominantly brings in new iPhone customers and upgrading 3GS or earlier customers. I think there'll be many 4 customers who won't see the need to upgrade this time around and will simply hold out till next year.

I am indeed very surprised at Apple's choice to introduce fragmentation in to their phone eco system, I did state that keeping the 3GS at a low price alternative would gain them some market share back, but judging but the SIM only price I assume they are going to try and achieve this through the cheaper £15pm contracts, like the one Orange are offering, this ties in with the imessage service to secure more of the younger market who use BBM etc.

It'll be interesting to see how they skirt round the whole one OS for all issue, since this will no longer be true and more and more apps will not work on the older phones.

they will have to draw a line somewhere, i doubt the fragmentation will get as bad as google, but surely they will have a cut off point.

Apple have introduced fragmentation? The 3GS runs iOS 5.

Do you think its worth selling my 3gs and buying a 4s? (handset, no contract)
Do you think they will run low/out of stock
Do you think the 4s will hold its value well (possibly based on the above)

My 3gs is doing me fine but i would like a flash/light on the camera and better standby battery. Saying that if the 4s holds its value well, i will sell up and pre-order one
