********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

After having sleep i've thought about this some more and come to the decision that the lack of a large screen is the only thing (apart from the shape of the phone that i've never liked and will get a case to change that) that has disappointed me. I really would benefit from a 4" screen, i use my phone for reading up on news, both standard and tech and also browse a bit. Damn you apple.
I know i'll get the 4S and the 5 will be out next summer and i'll have over a year left on my phone contract. I may have to buy the phone rather than a contract and then sell it maybe.

Siri assistant worked on iphone 3gs before apple bought the company, now you need an A5 processor for it, lol apple.

Siri will be as usefull as facetime, fun for 2 days :D

Prices released for uk!

£499 16gb
£579 32gb
£659 for 64gb don't know If I can justify that as a business expense lol

Surely that depends, the stuff its capable of doing i end up googling on a regular basis some 4+ times every single day, so its a time saver and useful feature for me.

Eh? wasn't the price up last night on the UK apple store anyway?

On o2 i remember that a £35 24month contract was 'unlimited' internet (for a few months, then capped at 500mb), 600 mins, unlimited texts and a one off fee of £119 for the 16gb model of the iPhone 4 at launch.

I expect the 4s to be more expensive though as o2's prices have really shot up, three should be cheaper/around the old o2 values i would imagine.

-edit-
Found three's IP4 release offers.

£35 per month, 24 month contract: 900 mins, 5000 texts, 5000 three to three mins, unlimited internet and a one off fee of £99 for the 16gb handset.

Gutted they have removed the 16gb 4 from the apple store I really didn't want to buy one from eBay but I guess I have little choice now. I want one with warranty. My whole plan was based on the new one pushing down the price of a 16gb to £400. Instead they remove them and launch the 8gb for £429.

I would just get a 4s but people seem to think it will only be 9 months until they announce a new one. How long was the gap between the 3s and 4?

Personally I think they have their pricing wrong. They should have dropped the 3s and used the 8gb at £329. Then kept the 16gb 4 at £400 and then the 4s at the launch prices. The price for the 8gb 4 is a complete joke in comparison to the competition.

Me? Nope, Dont see me needing any of the new features. I take photos for Facebook, the existing camera is fine, I seldom take videos and it in a case. I don't think I can tell the difference in day to day usage with a ip4s.

I still on iPad v1 too for the same reason.

Agree +1

Still keeping my iP4 and iPad1. No need to upgrade unless 1) they break or 2) there is a significant update to either of them which I require. The last bit is crucial. Yes the iPad2 is much better than the iPad 1 but do I need those for what I want... Nope. Same goes for iP4 and iP4S.

Ahh that's not too bad, I was thinking about changing to three anyway, 02 have become a joke. I'm still swaying towards the Nexus Prime, we'll see if I still feel the same after it's officially announced and how much it'll cost.

Was having a think about this last night...the 4S makes a lot of sense...and this isn't just me being a fanboy.

What a lot of Android fanboys have been banging on about ever since the S2 came out is how much the specs of it trumps the IP4.

Now all they have a one up on is the screen size...and let's face it the IP4's screen is hardly small, and the quality of it is fantastic and more than adequate. You don't have to squint to read from it and it doesn't make your eyes ache, for 90% of people this is good enough.

So Apple now have a faster, more powerful phone with a significantly better battery life without everyone having to redesign/rebuy all the accessories. We won't know how the camera squares up against the S2 (which nobody can argue against the fact the camera it has is fantastic!) until places like Engadget get hold of it and do some direct comparisons.

Makes sense to me! :)

Are these the same people who said there would be 2 phones?

Are these the same people who said there would be an iPhone5?

The whole iPhone release was moved as they wanted the WWDC to be about software and not about the latest iPhones and iPods. I can't see them changing this at all.

If anything I would bet on a longer period between releases due to the fact most people are on an 18/24 month contract. Is there a need to release every 12 months? (I know the Sim-only people can upgrade but I doubt they make up a large majority of the paying population, however I have no source for this information and will happily be proved wrong if some one found such info :) )

No point, you can't reason with the Android crew :p The same people slating those who plan to upgrade to a 4s (even if its a huge jump like 3g/3gs to 4s) because it "offers nothing" are probably those who'll jump from SGS II to the new Nexus for nothing more then a spec bump.
