********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

i wouldn't say that apple has caught up with the competition, android totally sucks in comparison to iOS its laggy and there just isn't the amount of apps on the market for android.

I bought a galaxy s2 and thought it was rubbish compared to my ip4 laggy and just didn't function as well, so i sold it and went back to iPhone. the apple stuff just works i don't want to **** around with rooting and all that rubbish just to get the phone to work better

You can do that on the GS2 and it works very well.

I am glad yesterday was a fail of epic proportions because Apple will not be getting any of my money. Don't get me wrong the 4S will be a great phone and a very good upgrade for those on 3G or 3GS who must have an iPhone but it has simply caught up to the competition and in some ways still lags behind. Very soon I have no doubt it will be blown out the water.

It is sad watching people defend Apple when deep down they know yesterday was a massive massive let down. It you want the best technology available, like a lot of people do, it is not an iPhone, harsh but true.

But i don't want a GS2.

Apple have a bit of a history of releasing a new product with issues/flaws/fewer features only to fix them with the second iteration, so this might be the best choice for some time.

I'm sure when the iPhone 5 does come out it will 'change everything all over again and again and again'.

However, there will probably be some little issue or missing feature that people moan about so I think getting into the second generation or 'S' cycle is probably the best way forward unless you have to have the latest form-factor.

It's pointless having quad core CPU's, yada, yada when the software can't benefit.

As has already been mentioned - the 90%+ market for the iPhone don't care about the tech specs. They just want a cool phone that is easy to use with access to iTunes and the App store.
If you want bragging rights for FPS on benchmarks they go and buy another phone and stop complaining ;) In the meantime iPhone owners will enjoy the best games, music and apps available

Prices released for uk!

£499 16gb
£579 32gb
£659 for 64gb don't know If I can justify that as a business expense lol

Where are these prices from?

Ive just ordered an phone 4 case before the prices go crazy (im presuming the buttons are in all the same places?)

I wasnt keen...was going to hold out for the 5... and then, watched the video on their site...

SOLD

How...i dont know, but they managed to sell it to me :p

Someone said the buttons may have changed to accomodate the new antennae. Not seen one properly to check...

Why are Apple thought to be a company building bleeding edge hardware on these forums when they are anything but - the iP4 was just an exception; they are far better known at putting existing technologies together and integrating them as a package...

ps3ud0

My point was, other phones can do what you require and have been able to do so for a long time.

If technical specs are pointless, the 4S is pointless as all it is, is an iP4 with bumped up specs really. You can't have it both ways, argue that other 'better' phones don't need all that power yet foam at the mouth when you hear how the A5 is dooool core, lol.

The iP4 and 4S are good phones, no question about it, but they are not value for money, they are an absolute rip off infact, and they are just about on par with the competition.

I owned an iP4 since launch and only recently sold it, I still think in some ways it was better then the GS2 but overall the GS2 is better, no question about it. If you don't know how to use the S2 then yeah I suppose an Apple product is what you need.

£700 for a 64 GB iPhone 4S

lol'd.

Truly lolworthy indeed.

Indeed, the 3g and 3gs were far from bleeding edge spec wise, the iPhone 4 was a bit of a blip.
I dare say the 5 will be to the 4s what the 4 was to the 3gs, and it looks like this is the cycle Apple are going for so there will be periods where they are behind the competition spec wise, but thats not important to a typical Apple user.

As far as I'm aware, iPhone 4 cases will fit the 4S. Thus, you have a year's worth of accessories already available, which is obviously handy.

Worth buying the 4s over the 4?

I can see their site says pre-order for the iPhone 4s from the 7th October. However I had a quick look on Apples site and only the 8gb iPhone 4 seems to be available, I'd be interested to pricing for the 16GB standard 4 now that the 4s is almost out.

So Siri is going to be iPhone 4S only?

I do hate it when Apple save features for their new phones. That is the only thing that makes me want a 4S. I've always wished i could just talk to my phone to do simple tasks. Texting while driving is something i've always wanted.

Even if Apple state it's going to be 4S only, Jailbreakers and Developers will port it to the older hardware. Read my previous post
