********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Hardly unexpected, all those getting excited ip5 must be pretty gutted.
Apple will need to make sure their next phone is something special bc more and more people are switching esp after the sgs2 release and its only going to get worse as manufactures realise they can make a lot of money by pimping out phones as much as poss despite any initial r&d costs involved

Apple as innovators is long gone ,a factor of barely managing to get a phone out every year

Anyone saw what else they have released?

iPhone converter to Micro USB.

This for the EU mandate on a common phone charger interface.

I think a lot of people have trolled themselves over rumours which were in fact just rumours to begin with.

I can understand a bigger screen / teardrop design being ace but we all kinda accepted the internals would be what we've guess for a while.

Maybe that design is slated for the future but I'm happy with it, can't wait to get one since I never had the iP4 but I probably understand a lot of people with the iP4 already wanting something 'new' in design.

Still you can't disagree that iOS 5 is going to make it feel like a new device anyway, even 3GS owners will enjoy that sense of a refresh with all the new features & enhancements.

PS. Good on feek for closing the other threads, its official now we don't need 3,4,5..6 threads on the subject.

Agreed.

Might just get a Samsung Galaxy S2 camera on that is 8MP or just get an iPhone 4, will they come down in price now Apple have a new model out.

Nonsense as always, Cheets. It's not just football you know nothing about.

oh god, Man U fan AND Apple fanboy, no end you your cringeness.

I am not sure how the 4S will be a "nice" upgrade from the 4 in the way you went from another non apple phone to the IP4.

A bit quicker and better camera isn't going to change your day to day experience on it.

Seems like an upgrade to me *shrug*

Maybe not as much as you were all hoping for but the internals have been improved and I think this will really show with IOS5, plus the boost in battery life will also be useful.

The iPhone 4S camera is the exact one found in the SE Arc/Ray/Neo... just like the CEO of Sony said :D

8mp Exmor R sensor with f2.4 lens, image/video stabilisation, face detection etc, check it out on the Arcs spec page.

...but with better jpg processing (SE compress the images too much) and 1080p with the A5 SoC, it's still the same 1/3.2" size as the iPhone 4 btw.

I'm usually a nerd and one to be found queuing outside the O2 stores on the day of release.

I really just don't care for this. Does it really offer anything over the iPhone 4 that's worth it? I'll no doubt upgrade in due course but I'm in no rush. 64GB is the only thing that would attract me to purchasing it. It's not that I'm no where near as excited as I was when the IP4 was announced, it's more that I really just don't care in the slightest!

IP4 - Elite battery life, Retina display, 720p HD video, pretty flawless GPS etc etc.
This is nothing more than an upgrade on some of these features.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Apple aren't just there to please the fanboys. The iPhone 4S is a great phone and powerful. Compared to an iPhone 4 it might not seem that great, but not everyone who wants the latest iPhone already has the 4...

It makes perfect sense to have the same basic design and just up the speed/power and lob in a gimmick. iPhone 5 next year, instead. Most iPhone 4 owners are probably still in their original contracts from last year's launch anyway, no rush! :p

Apple fanboy? My £3000 worth of Android phones would disagree with you there quite strongly. :)

Is there something I'm missing, or people just expect the massive leap forwards we've had in the last 20years which is IMO unrealistic as we have pretty much everything. Until folding/rollable screens are released.

You're probably right. Apple aren't ever going to be able to leapfrog the likes of Samsung when it comes to hardware because Samsung ARE the hardware market really.

Still, they could have made a new design and bumped up the screen size a bit, things like that.

I may save £100 over the next 5 months and then just buy one outright actually. Will see how the guinea pigs on here rate it!

The annoying thing for most Apple fans is that they could have announced the speed bump in July like the 3GS, but instead it was delayed, most probably because of Siri.

A lot is banking on the success of Siri, tbh.

How long between iOS5 coming out and the iP4S release? People on iOS5 with iP4 think its as good as iOS4 with regards to stability, functionality and battery life etc?

Just thinking once Ive got iOS5 the iP4 to me will practically be a new phone anyway, if it isnt Ill just get the iP4S whenever rather than at launch...

From a company's strategy and accountant's point of view, IP4S makes sense.

As an end user who has a IP4. They won't buy it, this really is to keep the sales of the iPhone as a whole up. Enough to drag it out until next summer for the proper upgrade.

iOS 5 is excellent, it runs like a dream on the iPhone 4.
