***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Because broadband has come as far as it has, devs do seem to think they can get away with murder. "We'll fix that tomorrow."

I remember when THQ had to recall all of the cartridges for WWF No Mercy as there was a save bug. must have cost them an arm and a leg.

No need to be that careful any more...youth of today running the world lol.

Doesnt help that the game was pushed out to early to try and steal a march on cod sales. No doubt due to the bean counters at ea. And as you say frosty, the old "fix it tomorrow" approach. Weve had 16 server patches and iirc four client patches and theres still way to many silly niggles.

Im getting really bad flickering and textures not loading properly, crossfire 280x. The patches seem to be making things worse for me the last 2 have introduced problems and fixed nothing.

Funny thing is, it's pointless posting on the BF4 boards via Battlelog. Your post gets swamped in the hundreds of people either spamming or complaining.

EA for worst company of the year 3 years in a row? It's a pity as I was literally just starting to enjoy the game over the past week or so without the server crashes. Seems even DICE are succumbing to what Bioware refereed to as the "EA bear hug"

he game update for PC is now live. Please read down below for change notes.

We’ve rolled out a new PC game update and will continue to make improvements based on your feedback. The update includes fixes with the aim to increase the general stability of the game, and eliminates bugs that you may have experienced. It also includes an improvement to the so-called “Netcode”.

Dec 16 PC Game Update Notes
-Fix for a crash that would cause the game to stall, resulting in a sound loop. This should eliminate most of the problems relating to this.
-Fix for the SUAV (introduced in the China Rising expansion pack) not exploding when hitting enemy soldiers. While these indeed should be deadly, they were never designed for “roadkilling” opponents.
-Fixed one of the issues related to the so-called “Netcode” (see below for details)
-Fix for player tags not always showing when needed to, resulting in players shooting team members.
-Fix for graphical flickering appearing on terrain.
-Fixed the instance where players suddenly would transition into Spectator Mode while playing the Defuse game mode.
-Fix for a Defuse bug where none of the teams would win a round by letting the timer run out. -Fix for players getting stuck in the revive screen after being killed.
-Fix for players getting stuck in the kill camera after being revived.
-Fix for the game mode specific ribbons being counted twice in the multiplayer progression.
-Made the NVidia 331.82 driver version mandatory for all players.
-Disabled DirectX 11.1 on NVidia cards that have outdated drivers.
-Fixed driver version not being properly detected on NVidia Optimus systems.
-Fixed a minor crash that could occur when bringing up the scoreboard.
-Fix for the issue where the game would get stuck in loading screen when players tried to join a Second Assault map without actually owning Second Assault.

“Netcode” improvement
We’ve addressed the so called “Kill trading”. This refers to when two players fire at each other and, seemingly, both die at the same time. The time window where a bullet could cause damage from an already dead player is now calculated as intended, decreasing the timeframe when players with high latency could get a kill, even though they should be dead according to the server.

-Fix for graphical flickering appearing on terrain.

Really, more like Added

Hmmm finally downloaded the full game and played it for 2 minutes this morning at 1080p - High and I was getting a pretty stable 40-50fps!

This is much better than I was getting in the Beta!

This is really hawsome news, and pretty impressive considering my system is a little dated now.

Lol

What if i dont want to change my drivers? I like to keep the same drivers until something doesnt work. Everything was working so well, and now it sounds like it has all gone to hell.

The graphical flickering you are witnessing (I suppose I will have it being crossfire) was an issue I actually had when China Rising was released. Changing graphics settings fixed it, I was then free to change them back and the flickering would go. I assume in a similar way as going windowed mode and back to full screen worked.

I will give it a test in a bit and see the damage.

Went to repair install... No missing or corrupt files. Restarted Origin, went to join game it says it is downloading but downloads nothing, says the game is up to date and then lets me in, but the graphics are flickering and changing settings or flicking in and out of windowed mode didn't change it. Can't play it like that. Am I going crazy or have they upped the suppression also? Screen was shaking BF3 style.
