***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

1920x1080 = 2073600 pixels
3840x2160 = 8294400 pixels

8294400 / 2073600 = 4

Because you're doubling both the horizontal and the vertical it's 4x bigger in area.

You can look at it the same way with smaller numbers. You have a rectangle which is 3cm long and 2cm wide. 3x2 = 6 square cm. If you double the rectangles sides to 6cm and 4cm. 6x4 = 24 square cm. So in area it's 4x larger.

Reading this the other day was what confused me:

LT has figured out the problem regarding Mantle. Dice have botched their attempted frame pacing. Place this in your user.cfg (or type it into the console) to get perfect performance back. No stalls and smooth performance since i disabled it.

RenderDevice.FramePacingMethod 0

It may well be that Dices frame pacing implementation won't work properly until AMD release new drivers. That's my two cents anyway.

Tried this earlier on new maps and game ran much smoother than last night. No major cpu spikes. Could have been coincidence, due to different server, or luck but thank you anyway :)
 
So some servers on Naval Strike are having some serious rubber banding issues, I had as much with my Mortar run I did yesterday. So re-ran tonight on an alternate server and here are the results:

A massive improvement, if you compare to my earlier run, time spent above 120 fps has gone from 70% to 90%, above 144 from 40% to 65%.

So if you're getting some perf hits on Mortar just try another server.
 
2 of the 3 servers I was on had rubber banding as well Paul. Ping was good for the servers, so no idea if it is a dice issue or something else at play.
 
Same, 2 of 3 on mortar, the other has been fine.

I realised what map type bf4 is missing....a snow/blizzard type map. Think along the lines of the sp mission on mw2 where you can't see squat and have to use heartbeat sensors.
 
Great snow map in bfbc2, (no blizzard as such though) but it made for some good firefights in among the trees.

Regarding banding, seeing an awful lot of this in ns too. Cpu oc back in place so on a good server things are a lot smoother.
 
Took some BF4 screenies that have been resized and have different AA/settings.... Can you tell which is which? They are all resized to 1080P from 4K

RE: The lack of proper snow map, agreed... that BC2 map, in the village with the snow was a nice one, looked ace... would be nice to have a snow one with blizzard like Gulf Of Oman type weather... only snow !!!
 
Aaaand I've lost mouse control AGAIN.

How has this been happening since launch and still remains unfixed?

When are the Win 8.1 patch 1 ISO's going to be available? Want to do a fresh install just to make sure.
