With using low settings, my green and yellow lines on the graph sit right on top of each other in game. CPU one only rising on the respawn screen.

Mine sit together nicely if use vsync. :p

I normally play at the highest settings so i rarely see the gpu line on top of the cpu line at 1440P ultra. I'd need a third gpu for that. :p

1080P Ultra on the other hand is a lot closer :D

Just tried playing using DirectX and it worked fine (fps wasn't good and the green line on that graph was all over the place).

I still had a few spikes using DX. It still offers a drastically inferior performance to Mantle on 290 crossfire. DX the fps can sometimes fluctuate quite dramatically as seen in the images below. I didn't see Mantle drop below 190 fps when i tried that. Mostly it was locked at 200.

Although given the choice between crashing after 10 seconds or running with poor fps, I know which I prefer!

Mantle still the clear winner for me. Can't go back to DX, not after playing for the last few months on Mantle.

Single player works with no issues and always has. Always a sign its something to do with the game/netcode/servers when you get those cpu spikes.

Although I see your angle, of the two lots of screenies above, Nvidia is closer to mantle perf on both the graph and frame rates then it is DX.

I'm not saying mantles bad or anything, its obviously the opposite, just pointing out that perhaps DX11 isn't as bad on Nv as it appears to be on AMD.

Edit: Tried to get similar positions to you, full ultra, CPU @ 4.2ghz, 2 x 780 @ stock

Yet according to all testing done AMD have better and more consistent frame times in DX vs Nvidia. The mind boggles.

People say that but never actually come up with anything tangible to back up what they are saying.

Its 175 FPS for DX on AMD

200 FPS in Mantle, which is the limit with BF4, who knows what his FPS actually would be without that limit.

Now here's the thing, i can keep up with a 12 thread top of the line Intel CPU running on an Nvidia GPU if i use Mantle on a weak CPU, its a 100% + performance difference. i have put up the proof for that over and over again.

Its about time we see something from Nvidia to back up the constant talk.

You didn't look in the spoiler in my post then?

As for frame times, a wee run around in those areas of metro...

bf4frametimemetro.jpg

What more proof do you want/need?!

Dammit, i didn't get frame times but i followed you into that server you chose. I picked a 48 man CQ large full metro server and you picked a empty 16 man tdm server. Bit of a difference to be fair Mr Tips. :p

Nonetheless here's my DX11.1 in that 16 man TDM server you chose.

EDIT 290's at 1050/1250.

Really, in my scenario of DX = works vs. Mantle = crash you think Mantle is the clear winner?

Just jumped in empty to get an idea of where you were stood, will easy jump in a more populated server shortly and run again.

I was talking about my scenario hence why i said 'for me'. 290 crossfire and 7770 Mantle is definitely better in both my systems.

Fair enough, but you quoted my post as though what you were saying related to it. My post ending with "I know which I prefer" after explaining my scenario. It seemed like you were giving your opinion on the scenario I gave that you quoted.

Thing is shanks (can I call you shanks?) I was running it on my 7950CF and as long as I turned the settings down it had been working ok (or at least not crashing).

I do look forward to more games supporting Mantle so I can have issues in those too as the developers prove that maybe they don't know what they're doing quite as much as they and/or AMD had been saying...
