***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

It's unplayable on Medium High or Ultra. I have to run LOW to get it fluid enough that I can aim properly.

I still have Win8 to install later, and am thinking of upgrading to a 4770, even if the final game runs perfect, a little more CPU grunt never hurt anyone. :D

Very true :D
If this is anything to go by, my mate who's running a 965+480 said the game was unplayable to the point of not even buying the game on Windows7. He's since upgraded to Windows8.1 and is now playing the game fine with very consistent framerate.

I'm on the hunt for a 1100/1090T to send his way though, the extra cores will help his minimums that i'm sure of.

I was a bit disappointed yesterday, but I've decided that I have to trust them to get it right.

If they can get it to run at 3/4 of the performance that BF3 runs at I'll be a happy bunny.

that must be a driver thing tho?
i want to try windows 8 with it but think i only have 8 not 8.1, is there a big difference?
i guess these guys are using the preview version?

The game doesn't seem anymore CPU demanding that the likes of BF3 in terms of usage

This one uses a lot more cpu than bf3.

64 player game brings my 4.7mhz 3570k to it's knees.

Most the time I can run round max setting 50+ frames but when my cpu maxes out it drops to less than 10fps.

This is mine on single card 1080p 64 players it sits about 80% but then up to 97% in heavy action.

Afterburner should do it i think if you tick Show in Logitech LCD display.

Its still in beta. The final release will be 100x better. Just look at BF3 beta and the final version as a comparison.

See, now i look back at my post i made....i found a mistake.

I was comparing to my old BF3 CPU usage charts, i was using a 3770k lol. The better IPC of the 4770k and the fact it's using nearly the same amount proves it's more CPU demanding :o:eek:

I need a new processor do you think the 4770k is much better than 3770k?

The cost of the new board isn't much of an issue for me as I have another use for it.

As for the other guy trying to run sli 780 on a qaud core I really can't see that working out very well as mine is bottle necking a single 7950.

Seriously dude, at 5Ghz I doubt their will be much in it at all! Esp if you only get the 4770k to 4.7ish. You'd be better off adding another 7950 for the performance boost it'd give ;)

I don't normally recommend 3930k CPUs for gaming but picking up a good secondhand one will do wonders in BF4.

3930K or pick up a binned haswell bundle from OcUK, either should be fine for heavy usage with dual cards.

I say binned as you're likely to hit 4.8ghz minimum on high end air, 5ghz+ on water which will let everything stretch its legs

Either would be a wise choice though & used 3930K route may even work out cheaper :)

Not in the slightest mate. I downgraded from a pretty decent 3930k to a decent 4770k as i wanted to go mATX Parvum + i loved the idea of the OCUK Extreme bundles being binned chips :D

If you sole game was BF4, getting a secondhand X79 6core is probably the way forward. I sold my chip what would do 5.1+ for £280, most 3930ks are going around the 250 mark though, you could probably get the whole bundle for little less than £500. Obviously if you play a few more games, ones that are single threaded/lightly threaded the IB/HW chips will preform much better.

Don't even bother!!! Wait for the official release and all your issues will be ironed out. You'll also be able to make a better informed decision.

I like the enthusiast platform but bit worried about having to buy new ram with current prices being so high.

After what everyone has just said I think I will just be getting a 3770k to pop straight in.

For gaming on X79 any cheap 1600mhz ram is fine.

I'm considering an upgrade in December, let the game bed-in for a while.

It's cheaper to get a 4820k than a 4770k. Just get 2 sets of dual channel RAM and you'll be fine.

Be careful when buying two dual kits to run in quad, even if they share the same primary timings its not a dead cert all the subs will be the same which may, admittedly rarely, cause issue.

Listen up :D

Today the beta becomes open, so thousands of fresh users will have the chance to test and provide feedback, please quote this bottom part for me if you would be so kind...

I recommend everyone use their respective beta drivers.

Use fraps for m/m/a and gpuz to record vram, which ever tool you like for cpu stats.

Thank you.
