***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

Is the consensus now that 2gb is ok for BF4 as this has not been mentioned for a while.

No issue here on 2gb 670 sli. That is at 1080p 4xMSAA and everything manually put to ultra. No stuttering, plays very smoothly. Playing on windows 8 though so i don't know whether that makes a difference.

Slightly off topic

Doing the above and reducing your screen resolution in benchmarks like 3dmark11 to a similar size as the benchmark is sometimes good for a few extra fps.

I used the disable visual themes option on the exe for Heaven and disabled the internet. Not sure if it helped much but with things running in the background, I can imagine it can have a very slight effect on the score.

My 3GB 7950 only just uses 2GB of VRAM @ 1080 Ultra so im sure 2GB cards will be fine and especially on final release. I suspect theres a huge memory leak in this beta and thats why its using so much memory on the system.

I used to play BFBC2 on a 1GB 6870 on Ultra.

Edit.. Maybe this Beta is more optimized for Win 8 atm?

Disabling hyperthreading for Heaven is also good as it makes it easier to maintain a high overclock using PCI-E 3.0

Oh no - lets not go there again

:D

I'm glad you said it.

I think people are having issues regardless of VRAM and I put this down to being a beta and an unfinished product. Drops to 20 or even single digits reported in games from both GPU's.

The game has issues there is no doubt. That said i don't get drops to the low teens or 20's so something is up there. I have seen fps drop into the 40's and maybe 30's though when there is a massive tank explosion.

Some stains never come out in the wash though Greg. The moment of undeniable truth is coming. :D

BF4 sucks.. been playing it since last night, gone back to BF3 and it feels much more open and less like a arcade game :s maybe its just me lol

I played a couple of hours on eyefinity last night and got to 2.9Gb on my 7950 (1100/6000) at a temp of 75'C. CPU went 100% across all three cores and got to a max 64'C on a couple of cores. There were 2-3 serious stutters or freezes for a second or more which reminded me of the early days of BF3 on a an earlier version of the rig. Performance was pretty good on full/almost full 64 man servers, though the various fraps runs showed mins of 0 at times. Average seemed to be around 25-30. I also tried Duvars low priority tip and that did seem to help s little but overall the game is playable as I am not a highly accomplished player.

As I have a non-HT CPU and Win 7 I am struggling what is the best upgrade (if any on a beta version) - xfire to a second card, W8 or an HT CPU like 2600/2700K ?

I have your CPU and my next upgrade will be a 3770k as this slots into my motherboard and with all the reading on these forums about bottlenecks this for me will give smoother gameplay in BF3 and BF4 which are my only games I will be playing.
4 cores and 8 threads will be very much needed...

I guess I was/am looking at the cheapskate route - used 2x00K for HT and then 7950 for xfire. I also keep in mind BF4 is not the only game out there, so forward looking at the multi core AMD CPUs might be a backward step in games like Arma 3.

I guess I get my post count up to join the MM !

I have a i7 930 at 3.9ghz 6gb ram Win 7 and a 7970 lightning at 1200,1700 and im getting in a 64 player map domination between 55-60fps on average sometimes dips to mid 40's that's on 13.10 beta 2 this is all maxed out ultra and 4xmsaa at 1200p is that any good seems ok?

Ha i hate computers, the game never drops below 60fps and averages around 70/75fps+ with my SLI 670's and runs silky smooth but i know they are being bottlenecked by my i5 as they only run between 65-85% usage on a full 64 player map. This makes me really want to buy an i7, just so i can get what would be most likely 90-100fps when both cards are used at 100% usage.

I will end up spending the best part of £100+ after selling my i5 for probably an unnoticable to the eye framerate hike, just so i am safe in the knowledge that my cards arent being bottlenecked.

:(

Stats from a couple of rounds - roughly 30 minutes on a full server. Adaptive V-Sync enabled. All on ULTRA, SSAO and MSAA 4X @ 1080P

Very smooth TBH. Only thing to report is a very annoying fog flicker. I'll take a wild guess and say it will probably go away if SLI was disabled. Apart from that it looks and plays great.

CPU usage at stock turbo clock of 4GHz is stretching it's legs a bit, but will update with some @ 4.8 later tonight.

Touching on VRAM, at 1080 the maximum reached was 2090MB.
