I can't see how the new engine would strain them so much over the previous one.
Bf3 also used a lot of cpu power my 3570k at 4.8 runs at 75%-80% on a 64 player match of rush/close quarters.
bf4 has more stuff going on.

I get stutter. But it isn't showing up as micro stutter or on the graphs. It seems like packet loss even at very low pings. It's only very occasionally though and doesn't really affect gameplay.
As a chopper player i would have to say its annoying as hell lol.Played a lot more today. I'm still prety pleased with performance overall. Also, It can only get better as they roll out patches up to the final release!
One thing I have noticed is that before the Skyscraper is destroyed, the map looks awesome! All the textures, lighting and effects are really nice. After the building comes down (which is usually in the first 5 minutes of every match), however the dust that covers the entire map makes it look very dull, in my opinion. All the nice light effects are dampened and it's slightly hazy. I know it's intentional, but the dust is widespread and makes every surface look like it has the same, blank texture. I wonder if it could be toned down slightly, just for the aesthetics.
Really enjoying gameplay, though!
Spent a few hours on BF4 tonight still using the same Ultra preset but rolling with 2xMSAA. CPU and GPU getting pretty much full usage as we all know. Dropped my clocks a touch on my GPU in preparation for matching up my IceQ with same frequency as advised by Matt. Still hitting solid frames, with the odd stutter but I still believe this is nothing to do with my I5. If it's still doing in on the full game and after the patches then I'll come here and openly say I'm wrong no problem.

many also say its a memory leak and is being investigated by DICE. Everyone tends to have their own ideas don't they. I'm just going to wait until full game and go from there. I'm actually very impressed with the BETA even though its nowhere near full product, definitely excited at things to come.
VRAM issues, i think.
I'm running everything on Ultra + 2x MSAA @ 1080P, my VRAM is anything from 1600MB to 1900MB + and i'm getting random crashes, always when the VRAM is in the 1900MB range, it also only happens when i run those very high settings and the VRAM runs near the limit.
2GB card.
I just turned the settings down a bit, less VRAM and no more crashing.

Would you describe it as "Rubber banding" where the game play yoyo's back and forth....
I get that sometimes.
