***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

I heard a phone call on youtube that some bloke made to the emergency services when he was in one of the towers. The tower collapsed while he was on the phone. The screams and sound of his voice as they were going down was about as chilling as it can get.

Anyway...

Are you saying you survived ? You must have some pretty good hax there bro. :p

lol...:D. No I was still very dead. Yeah I've heard that, it's pretty grim.

Only hax I've seen thus far was when I was patiently waiting in a tank for someone to launch up the tower steps on their jet ski, only for them to suddenly turn into The Flash and disappear up the elevator lol. May of been a convenient bit of latency though.

Just disabled SLI but still get same frame rate around 70fps average, SLI is defo not optimised for this beta, the finished game is going to be awesome when dual cards are properly supported and minus the buggy nature of the beta. Can't wait.

There really is no competition between the cards. At stock they're trading blows. Overclocked the 7950 will pull ahead with ease. A 7950 at 1100/1500 matches or is slightly faster than a stock 7970ghz. Even crap clocking 7950's (like mine) will do 1100/1500.

Here's some stock benchmarks. One thing worth considering. You have the 760 with its boost feature inflating short benchmark scores. Vs the 7950's grossly underclocked core. ;)

People still act like boost is extra?
It's part of the card, you can overclock Nvidia cards as well.

It looks as though AMD and Nvidia are trading blows in BF4. They are about as fast as each other. The only thing AMD is doing better is the minimums because of the 3GB vram. 99% of people won't be affected by this because 1080p and below it makes no difference. It's only @ 2560x1440, ultra settings with 4x MSAA where people start getting fps drops.

This is also a beta so will run better when the final game is released and both companies get final drivers out. Nvidia have not had the chances that AMD have had because AMD are a partner with DICE in this. There is no clear winner at all & tbh I'd probably lean towards Nvidia seeing as a proper driver hasn't been released yet, only a quick beta one.

The thing to look to is the patch in December that adds mantle support. Will this boost AMD performance? Only time will tell but at the moment people should just get what ever card they want as AMD/Nvidia are about equal. It's silly to buy a card based on beta performance anyway. If you're spending hundreds of pounds you should wait till the game is released and check properly.

Mantle is likely to change things for BF4 and other frostbite games that has it.
I know that if I play Bf4 mainly I wouldnt buy a Nvidia card as many other games will have access to Mantle.
let say for arguments sake that mantle does nothing for your fps and improves the cpu/gpu load so you gain high min fps or less heat or such, all wins without needing to buy things extra.

But reading how the amd people look at the numbers with mantle and what they stated, I know one thing, it is gonna be good.

It will either be like Glide was back in the day or it'll be like NVAPI.
NVAPI is like mantle but doesn't go that far and has been out for a while (made by Nvidia obviously). DICE have confirmed they used aspects of it in BF3 for Nvidia cards and they'll be using it to get the best out of Nvidia cards on BF4.

If mantle turns out to be like Glide was than that will be very annoying for the consumers

NVAPI didn't help Nvidia in BF3, AMD was still faster.

NVAPI isn't really comparable. It works with DirectX or OpenGL to gain some access that those don't provide. It's completely proprietary (you need to sign an NDA to get full access to it). Mantle is designed (as far as we know) as a complete replacement for DirectX and OpenGL.

Well for the rest of this beta I will be switching off SLI as without it runs so much smoother.

As an Nvidia user Mantel worries me :D or should i say I'm scared looks like this will be a real game changer and i think Nvidia can/should do the same type of API.

Mantle is apparently open.
In theory Nvidia could get it running on their hardware.

Yes, yet Mantle is designed to run on GCN, Nvidia would have to redesign their hardware.

Anyway, i just noticed something, its running in DX11.1, yay....

Snips, it looks just as good on W7 lol? Unless you're spotting something I'm not in .1!

I don't blame you. It's seriously hard to not think about upgrading when playing this BETA, despite the fact it's badly optimized, 3-4 weeks old and we all know the final release will be 100x better.

It's just an impatience I have. Oh and on that note, I can stop playing since you cannot transfer the stats over, so it's BF3 until 1st November. Not looking forward to a 16gb download for the whole game though and no choice of pre-load :(
