Don't forget by the time you add in a case, apple care, potentially your own wireless headphones ( as we know the sound quality out of the earbuds will be dreaful, plus only 5 hours before they need charging) - you potentially way over £1000 for a phone. MENTAL!!

Looks lovely and everything but asking nearly a grand for the top end phone is completely nuts!

Even £599 for the bottom of the range is wild pricing!!

  1. I've never seen the point of AppleCare tbh
  2. Do we know the sound quality will be dreadful? Source?
  3. Why not use your own Bluetooth earphones with better battery life?
  4. How long do you spend listening to music at any one time? 6hrs straight with 0 break?
  5. Nvidia Titan X(P) is £1200 and that just plays games.. and doesn't come with a PC :p
  6. That is the sim-free cost. Most people are going to get a subsidised contract I'd assume

The point I'm making is that people are always so down on the negatives, but you have to remember that price is relative and people who want it will pay the money.

Those earpods do look silly in my opinion :p the wired version never stayed in my ears so I doubt these would :p

Interested in the powerbeats or beats x for running though. Just got some cheap Ankers at the moment.

Torn with the iPhone 7, the jet black looks lovely but it will be fingerprint hell! I'll probably ride it out till next year as planned, though my resolve is tested.

The pricing has really ticked me off. Cook boasted that pricing was the same in his speech and then we see a 13% price increase (128GB model) on such an expensive consumer electronic. £700!

To put this into comparison, the exchange rate at Brexit was around 1.44 vs 1.33 now. That's around 9% drop. With their margins I would have really looked to see them eat half of the forex movement to increase pricing to maybe £649 rather than £700.

Edit: A Samsung S7 with 128GB memory card would set you back £550, max. Compare that to £700...

Did we really expect anything else from Apple?

Their products may be great but the company itself is a despicable, greedy, money-grabbing organisation. No amount of money is enough for them. Having hundreds of billions of dollars in the bank isn't enough, they need to squeeze every last cent out of their customers and avoid every last cent of tax they can rather than put anything back into the pockets of customers or economies of the countries into which they sell.

Like I said, love their products, hate the company with a passion. Some would say I should refuse to buy their stuff on principle but I take the view that doing so would be cutting off my nose to spite my face.

To be honest, I was being naive in expecting them to hold/small increase on the price. However, the money has to come from somewhere. My temptation to get an Apple Watch rapidly dried up after the price increase.

My idea of replacing my 2010 MBP with a new one in October is also out of the window. The pricing for their MBP are already high - if you add 13% on top of that there isn't a chance in hell I would pay that price for it.

My dad will probably stick with his S7 rather than bounce back to an iPhone like he normally does. Some might say £80 isn't much, but when you realise how much the total is... you really question if it is worth it.

So, I posted this on 7th Sep 2016, 12:46....

Apple leaks have become more common in recent years, to the point where the case designs are often leaked months before the real article arrives.

That's not to say there won't be surprises, but generally the surprises that aren't already leaked are minor.

Here's a list of rumors that are already leaked. You are welcome to quote after we find out later tonight:
  1. The name "iPhone 7" and "iPhone 7 Plus" are now registered trademarks (link) CONFIRMED
  2. 2GB of RAM for base model / 3GB for "Plus" WAIT FOR TEARDOWN
  3. IPX7 water resistance and 12MP cameras (link) CONFIRMED
  4. Dual-lens rear camera on the iPhone 7 Plus CONFIRMED
  5. Storage capacities of 32 GB, 128 GB, and 256 GB CONFIRMED
  6. No 3.5mm headphone jack CONFIRMED
  7. "AirPods" aka Bluetooth headphones to be launched as an accessory CONFIRMED
  8. Pressure-sensitive click-less home button CONFIRMED
  9. Some site reporting as many as 5 colour options CONFIRMED

Personally, I also expect Watch2 but I doubt we will see new rMBPs at this event. CONFIRMED

I miss the days when there was actually a genuine bit of mystery :(

Added the option of "I'm not buying one" but if I was, I'd get the matte black.

What time can you buy from the Apple store?

I was thinking of the jet black but I've gone off it now, plus there's no 32GB option.

So regular black. Makes no difference really as it would be in a black Apple leather case, so all a bit pointless!

edit:

tomorrow!

Anybody else feel like this was more like an "S" Upgrade than a proper number increase ?

I'm tempted to hold onto my Iphone 6Plus for another year and see if the rumored massive revamp in design for the 10 year anniversary materializes.

There's lots of features that are being talked about for future iphones (faster charging, wireless charging, OLED screens etc.. ) and nothing ground breaking materialized. Its just the usual bump in camera, CPU speeds and minor tweaks. albeit with the clickbait 3.5mm jack removal.

Im positive it's Apple leaking this info anyway. Its too precise.

Lots of the leaks came from parts suppliers. We've seen chip manufacturers, case makers and all sorts leaking stuff. Thats where most of the info comes from, For instance, see my post above, apple are reportedly buying en-masse wireless charging chips for a future model.
