Basically you buy the phone for £49 up front and the rest financed interest-free over 20 months.

After one year you have the option to trade your phone in for the new model but you start the 20 month cycle again.

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to be honest. Thanks :)

I made the jump to Android and tbh, I am actually enjoying my Note 7 (even though it could explode until it's replaced)

It's no where near as laggy as I expected it to be, the ability to change pretty much everything I want, together with the s-pen and retina scanner make it a very decent phone.

Coming from an iPhone 6 which I really couldn't fault I still feel like I made the right change.

I'm hoping the iPhone 8 brings some more features.

Thanks for that, it is good to know as I had decided if I switch then it would be the Note 7 but I was waiting on the iPhone 7 launch to see Apple's offering.

Well, just set up my sim only contract with EE. £19.99 a month for 12 months giving 8gb data and unlimited everything else. Feeling pretty happy about the decision. In 12 months time I will likely buy a 7S or whatever it'll be outright and keep the sim only deal going on that phone. Happy to skip the 7 right now.

Yeah I'm on similar with EE and will just buy a 7 128G outright.

Still find EE have the best network in terms of speed and coverage (for me at least) and offer useful stuff on iPhones such as Wifi Calling and Visual Voicemail. Their prices are steep but if you can find a good discount or cashback deal...

Well said Matt. To be honest I was quite amazed that they kept the AirPods under wraps. I assumed they weren't coming out yet because there was nothing beyond a name in any leaks.

The fact there are so many leaks is fair proof that Apple are still hugely popular and that information about their next product is big news.

I don't like the fact that I will have to pay ~£100 more for my new iPhone but I think we will find that lots of things jump in price soon. People still seem to expect apple to do something amazing out of the blue when no other phone makers are doing that. Every phone manufacturer has their focus and yet Apple is compared to every other phone on the market as if they were 1 phone.

They are different. If you like the curved edge to edge screen, get one. If you must have a super high res screen, get another phone. If you want the best phone ecosystem to use, get an iPhone (in my opinion anyway).

I bet that most of the people who complain about the lack of X,Y,Z don't use their phone for much beyond texting, calling, social media and a few photos.

Only if you continue to upgrade every year or pay the full 20 months off the first time. Otherwise you'll be paying £950 for a 7S (if entry level prices stay the same) over 32 months effectively, plus whatever your contract is on top.

Indeed. People can make fun of "Apple fanboys" all they like but the fact is the other manufacturers would kill to have this much publicity at a launch or queues of people outside their stores on release day.

It's a no brainer, probably the definition of a no brainer, to equal the ugp you would have to sell your 7+ for nearly £400 + selling fees as easily as walking into an apple shop or making phone or e contact with apple then walking away with a new model and ac.

Nope it's basically an interest free finance option

But if the 128GB iPhone 7+ is £819 then minus the £49 with a credit agreement of £770 the payments surely should only be £38.50 but the Apple site says £44.50 which over 20 months would be £890

I'm probably going wrong somewhere but it appears, to me, that it isn't interest free

Yeah exactly. WiFi calling and Visual Voicemail are big features imo.

Having said that, now my sim only deal has applied automatically to phone I have lost visual voicemail?! Can I re activate it?

That's the cost with ac+ iirc there's the option to not buy ac+ at a commensurate lower price.

Only if you continue to do it every year, which seems unlikely for a lot of people. Otherwise the eventual model that you do end up paying off fully has become massively more expensive in real terms compared to buying outright every year.

iPhone 7 gloss 256gb for me... ordering tomorrow. i always like to get the latest apple phone. And why not, doesn't cost me anything. I can always sell my old out of contract unlocked prev gen for the same price i'll be paying for my new one.

Though they're doing away with 2yr contracts (USA based) and given the fact i always get my carrier to change my personal number to a one yr contract, i'm not quite sure how its going to work this yr. But i already have them working on it !

And the millions of truck and car owners with only aux in for the long distance journeys, the owners of all those hifi systems with no bluetooth, the hipster audiophiles with pair of £500 Beyers around their neck and all the staff stuck on 10 hour shifts outside in the open with only their expensive Apple Beats to keep them company... so want to show your "market charging" a big fat middle finger right now...

Well then they deserve to be inconvenienced because they're too bone idle or ignorant to see that there's an adapter in the box, replacements are £9, there will be a thriving ecosystem of 3rd party options and you can buy bluetooth adapters for buttons.

Audiophile fine but what on earth were they doing using a phone to play them MP3s anyway? Sure they want higher bitrate files or physical media?

You see my point on the mcdonalds thing though.. this was an iPhone/watch launch. Just because their overheated expectations were for apple to announce literally everything all at once then fall silent for a year doesn't mean they've done the wrong thing by not doing that.

They release different products at different times both presumably for supply chain pressure around launch and so they can own more of the news cycle.

The macs will be here within weeks probably.. #appledoomed!

I'm on sim-only and activated it without any problems. Text "iPhone visual" (no quotes) to 150
