Looks like there is a steady release of stock daily on the reserve page. I have a 256gb Gold Plus one, but would prefer a black one. Seem to see a lot of Gold / Pink being released, I only seem to see black in 32gb and not in 128/256.

Would prefer black, will wait and see. Last year they allowed me change the SKU in store on the day

Ordered a 7 Plus 128GB in matt black, apparently early to mid October for delivery now.

Is Apple Care really worth getting? I've got home insurance which covers the phone.

Also if I am changing my phone every year, is the upgrade program worth it?

In my opinion...no!

iPhones do tend to hold their value fairly well and therefore by the time you get to the upgrade on your upgrade plan you'll probably lose out on a bit of the resale value on the phone by handing it back.

Also if you have your phone covered already then Apple Care is simply not needed. How often do you make an insurance claim on a mobile phone? I have made one in my life way back in 2009 or something like that therefore I consider my insurance as part of my bank account more than enough just incase.

I don't see the point of having to buy Apple Care + just to be on the upgrade program if you're already insured.

At current prices, no it's not worth it. I took it out on my iPad Air a few years back but it was cheaper and the excesses are lower, presumably as you're less likely to drop an iPad.

AC+ costs £119 with £25 excess for a screen repair and £79 (I believe) for any other repair. If you never drop it, you've wasted £119. If you drop it once then it's £144 if you crack the screen or £198 if you do more damage.

That's hideously expensive, both compared to the cost of a replacement from Apple if you break it (£260-ish I think) or third-party insurance. Total rip-off, like pretty every other 'accessory' they sell.

It's just their way of forcing you to spend another £119. I appreciate they don't want the hassle of dealing with people trying to trade-in a damaged phone but they could quite easily offer the upgrade program without it but with a clear stipulation that you won't be allowed to trade-in a damaged phone under any circumstances and you'll have to pay to get it fixed first.

Cheers guys.

I lost my iPhone in May, bought a new one the next day from Apple and my insurance company refunded me less £100 excess.

I dropped my last one and Apple changed the screen for a £80 or so fee. They didn't do a good job and replaced the phone on the next visit.

Just thought about it as some guy on FB was hammering on about that people are stupid if they didn't get AC+, I did wonder if he was spouting BS.

Keep me posted on the case if you can :)

I'm still undecided, although I do currently have the Apple leather case in black ordered. Also looking at the Ringke Fusion as suggested earlier.

Ordered the Apple Saddle Brown last night should be here by Friday.

Really like the case got one on my 6s at present, shame it does not fit the 7 due to the camera position being moved.

Cheers all

I also have the Apple leather case on order for mine. It's outrageously expensive but at least it's well made, slim and looks good. That they've changed the buttons to metal ones is very good news but extremely cheeky that the old 6S cases are also up to the same £45 price despite not having the better buttons.

If you have a dongle for your headphone how does it effect your inline controllers? Mostly think dropping the headphone port is good as it will push bluetooth to improve but right now I don't see it being worth the price premium.

I may be wrong but I'd imagine it should still work.

Seems like a few of us are going for the Apple cases then. I'm just worried about dirt etc. getting behind these cases. I seem to have had problems in the past with cases that let dirt in and scratch the phone!

This is really interesting - Ofcom have a tool to predict UK network coverage for the big 4... The results don't always stack up with what the networks themselves say surprisingly enough!

http://maps.ofcom.org.uk/check-coverage

Based on this, and despite my reservations, I've gone with Voda

Great deal though, taking Quidco into account its £13 sim-only for Unlimited/Unlimited/20GB with 2GB roaming allowance - Winner (I'm hoping).

Sweet. I really dislike the stock headphones they don't feel very comfy and the sound is meh.

I'm in London and Vodafone are awesome, in some parts I'm pull 100mb down. If you have 4G your sorted.

I have a few friends with Vodafone and they always have great reception. They also don't suck when roaming.

I was with Three and left them as their network got crap, now with O2 and it's a load better but not overly happy with their roaming! SIM only and 10 months left, may go with Vodafone at the end.

I've got a few silicon cases from Apple and never had issues with dirt. Tried leather now with my 6S plus and again no problem, so ordered another leather one for the 7.

Similar experience to me then, I had the leather case on my 6S and no issues with dirt behind the case. I assume due to the precision fit it basically aleviates the dirt issue.

I haven't ordered a case yet as I'm assuming they will have plenty of stock on the Friday of the accessories anyway...possibly an oversight on my part but we'll see :)
