Just updated my Graphics Drivers to the latest Vulkans and WTF!!! The game is REDOING all the ********** Shaders again!! So those of you who had to wait well over an hour, if you update it will do it all again
Yeah that’s normal. I tried going back to 528.49 last night as some people saying it resolves everything but it was terrible for me - totally unplayable. I think it’s only supposed to help with the game prior to hot fixes though and I don’t think there’s a way of rolling back the game updates in steam… unless anyone knows if there’s a way?

Any game that does shader comp SHOULD be recompiling shaders if you change your GFX card drivers. Thought this was well known by now lol.

Yeh but most people wouldn't be bothered by it, Warzone does the same... But that game doesn't compile shaders from 30mins to 2 hours compared to what system is being used.

That's true, the compilation time is just needlessly long and there very little disk IO during it, so it's definitely something they need to sort out.

Battlefield 2042 also compiles shaders, although that does it very quickly in game :D

Hell, my Amstrad CPC 464 loads games quicker than Last of Us doing its shaders :p

Will be grabbing this in a few months at half price with problems all solved :p:D

Yeh just crashed again, it kinda stutters then stutters again, then locks up. Crash back to desktop.

Tried underclocking the GPU, memory on XMP just as a TEST but made no difference. So I'll put the game aside till we get a new Nvidia driver for the 30x series

Can you set your textures to high or medium, or use DLSS Balanced/Performance - Anything to lower the VRAM use of the game, because I fully suspect the main issue is the shared VRAM between game and OS and the spikes that can and do happen in all games, just in this game the spikes cause the VRAM max to hit and he engine does not handover to system RAM or pagefile, but instead just crashes which is not how it should work in games.

Good idea, will try that now!

Building shaders is taking ages, 5800X3D pegged at 100% as well.

The funny thing is when I did it on my 5900x the shaders took about 30 mins, but the CPU didn't get overloaded and the temps stayed around 70 degrees. It didn't seem to thrash my system as bad as it has other peoples.

Would you guys says that a 6/10 score is fair for this? The 6 from my POV is for the gameplay itself, the stunning game world redone on PC and everything I liked about it on PS3 has transferred over to PC, just nicer. The -4 because all these technical issues are inexcusable ad points must be dropped because of that. Just because my experience since the patch has been very good doesn't make it a good game still if many others still have technical issues with it!

4/10

Shocking release considering they actually delayed it around two months to make sure the game was "Perfect"
